Hey guys! we are finally Installing Rustys 4.5 inch lift springs on my Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ. This is the first step towards installing long arms. Installing the springs can be done with simple tools I'll link down below. The springs actually lifted up evenly from front to rear and a definite noticeable difference from my 2.5 inch budget Boost.

Well.... a coil spring compressor definitely helps, but you could also loosen all the bolts on the control arms too. You need the jack right under the front pumpkin to keep pressure on it but once you pull the shocks and detach the sway bar, you just let the jack down slowly and both sides will pop out at once. You'll need the front end fairly high with the jack stands though but re-installing the new taller springs is a breeze also. Usually you can just wiggle them in without a spring compressor. Just make sure to re-torque the control arm bolts while the vehicle is on the ground and on it's own weight otherwise you will destroy the bushings in no time.

Yea that’s another way to do it! I didn’t want to take of the control arms as I will be installing long arms soon and didn’t want to take them off twice 🤷‍♂️

Yea I have to adjust my track bar to line up the axles again because I do feel a wobble and also I’ll need to adjust caster angle when I install the long arms and hopefully that should get everything straight! I’ve replaced pretty much every bushing and joint in the front end even the gear box

I know this is getting old but for anyone wondering about numbers on a tap or bolt, the 1/2-20 is referring to the diameter of bolt as half inch and 20 threads per inch. There are generally just two thread counts per each diameter bolt. The fine thread will of course be more threads per inch.

If you don't already have an adjustable track bar, now would be a good time to put one on. Without it the front axle could be pulled too far off center from the rear.

I am going to springs on an overland with spacers, currently on 2-3/4 and 12 inch springs front and 2 inch rear on a ten inch stock spring , probably going to a 2.5 lift because of the v-8 which weighs less but squats the front springs more, any help guys?
