The Nakto Camel is a value priced cruiser ebike with fenders, suspension fork, rear rack, front basket, and battery integrated headlight for just $649 USD. Driven by a 250 watt rear hub-motor with both throttle and cadence based pedal assist, features a 36v 10.4ah battery and easy to use controls. 6 speed Shimano Tourney derailleur, 14-18 tooth cassette with a 44 tooth chain ring in the front, rim brake in the front and drum brake in the rear. Some generic parts like battery, motor, and brakes, smaller crank arms may be uncomfortable for taller people, and there is no real display.

I actually purchased this bike from of all places Hobby King, they had a 1 day sale for $269 & I jumped on it! Its back to $980 on their web site & they claim out of stock, it must have been the only one they had? I love this bike! I received it in early September & try to ride it every day, I didn't get the basket, which I do want! I mostly ride at night so I have it loaded down with lights, 2 handlebar lights, I headlight where its shown on this bike & a helmet light, spoke lights, & a taillight, I look like a UFO going down the street...lol... love your review, very accurate description! A cheap tip for lights, I buy the headlamps on amazon, a 5 pack @ 20 bucks & then cut off the straps & buy some velcro & strap them on my helmet & bike, very powerful & CHEAP!

Question for anyone, is there a way to change to a dual ring set-up, this bike comes with a single ring, without having to change the chain etc
@NWforager
@NWforager 4 жыл бұрын
@@andjesussaid2343 you can but it may end up costing more than you paid for the thing. You might just get a larger front chainring Or a more varied rear cog . those are the cheaper choices . 2 rings would require a front derailleur and other work

@edwong3 Thanks! Yeah it was a weird deal, I've wanted an ebike for a long time but couldn't rationalize spending over a grand, like I said I got it from Hobby King & it must have been their only one , as it showed 'sold out' the day after I bought it. I guess they really wanted to move it? Anyway thanks for the kind words, btw I love the bike & the exciting thing is ebikes are becoming a trend, which = more companies jumping into producing them, so prices will come way down. Have a great weekend my friend!

I've had mine for 3 years now. I ride 3 times a week for a total distance of 20 miles each ride. I ride it all year and I put studded tires on during the winter and it goes through snow no problem. The only repair(other than flats) was I had to replace the gears in the hub after 2 years, but they are plastic and remember I ride in the winter in temperatures down in the low teens.

I own a Nakto Bike. I will save my comments for the model I have on a later video. Just so you know there are many speedometer apps that you can download to your cellphone that are very good. I think it would be a good idea for you to use it on your phone if a bike doesn’t have a display. The only question I would have for the bike you are reviewing is can a bike shop actually replace the drum brakes. Are they knowledgeable enough to do the mechanical replacement. Other than that for $650 not a bad bike for flat roads and inner city. Love your Reviews. Always professional.

I love that the brake handles are switched. It's more natural as you throttle with the right hand and you want your REAR brake on the left. If you panic brake with the left hand, you're going down if it's the front brakes

I've wanted one for 2 years. I rode my fat tire folder 700 mile until I wrecked it going 18mph and hitting a pothole. Luckily it was a $750 used one. Its a 1.5 mile trip to the store, uphill. I just bought my first new ebike a few days ago. Another fat tire 20x4 inch folder of course, for street use only, no off-road. I had no idea how good a brand new bike is. In the factory box. 😁

Mine sometimes has a shudder when first starting out, as if the controller were turning on and off rapidly. There's also more motor noise than my Ancheer, and the short cranks mean you pedal like mad at higher speeds. It rides smooth, but feels more like a scooter than an eBike. Got it to 24 mph, but the bike and you will be happier around 15-18. The components are very cheap, especially the derailleur and hand shifter. Big time throttle lag if you just try to nail it, so beware of that.This is not a good commuter bike, more like a bike to run errands with, and stay 8-10 miles from home at the most. Overall, the bike seems to be assembled mostly from previously existing bikes, as there's a lot that needs cleaning up, and it badly needs better brake/shifter hardware.

Looks like a typical Dutch bicycle, that appeals to me. The first thing I would do is mount a battery tail light. A speedometer is also not expensive. Not a bad bike at all for such a low price, but second-hand electric bikes are also cheap here (The Netherlands). How strange that things are made in the USA for use in China.

I bought one of these and so far I'm quite happy. Went together easy, no instructions needed if you know how bikes work. Whoever Hulk Smash! torqued the mounting screws down on the bike though needs a damned pay raise because dear god they were a mother to loosen. Handles gradual inclines fine, steep hills it wanted to but needs some pedaling. Next step for me, since I ride at night alot, is a battery box to hook up some rear and marker lights and a LED antenna like I have on my trike

I understand that the term "entry level" is used extensively in today's world ; however I'm sure that it is a term that classes folk into a box. Why would anyone who could afford a 2000 dollar ebike buy this bike, they wouldn't. I know folk who have bought ebikes first time and had no problem whatsoever plopping down couple of gs for one. It is simply all some folk can afford and it fills that spot. Good review!

I have a question with the "reverse" brakes. Do you know if the brake cables up front where they go in the leaves can just be reversed to make it an American brake arrangement as a normal bike would? Or does the electric assembly make that tricky? That's honestly the only part that really bugs me of all this, is the "backwards" breaks!

I don’t have this bike but I have a similar model which was my sole transportation for a year. It worked out great. If you’re just looking to get around town you don’t need to spend top dollar on an ebike. Really, the major downside to these kinds of bikes is the weight. If you live on a ground level apartment or have a garage, don’t be afraid to buy a budget ebike. Also, my bike didn’t come with a seat that flips so you can access the battery. So I bought one of these Nakato seats and the thing was super convenient and comfortably as hell. The most comfortable saddle i’ve ever owned.

Recently bought a Nakto Camel. It is fine for me. The only issue is that the pedal assist is not variable. It's on or off and when it goes on it's too strong so I can only pedal one or two rotations before I have to stop pedaling. I find that I only use the throttle to assist my pedaling. Is it possible to add a variable speed arrangement? What parts must be changed to add this? Thanks!

We purchased this Vivi 27.5” electric bike and a Tentaquil 26” electric bike for our 13 and 14 year olds. kzfaq.infoUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ The Vivi was much easier to put together. With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!

looks like a pretty minimal ebike, but if that's what someone can afford, much better than nothing. we can't let perfect be the enemy of good. looks like the cadence sensor is crap, but that's ok if the throttle assist is always active. to sell on amazon they have to be UL2849, they claim they are, and i believe that. amazon is pretty strict about that, although maybe not so much in the past. the design is so basic that probably helped keep the regulatory costs low. i saw one of these at the bagel store the other day. not too shabby. if i didn't have a rad rover, i'd probably give this a try.

It cracks me up how you assume everyone is helpless and clueless and have to go to a bike shop for everything they want done to their bike. Personally I would not buy one of these bikes due to no pedal assist adjustments just full or nothing and no display for speed, miles etc. Spend a few more bucks and get one with all that stuff especially more PAS speeds.

I just acquired the men's Version of this bike that he is showing It is a nice solid black and color and it calls itself On the owner's manual a City Cruiser I guess they're calling it The camel bike I think I saw that somewhere on the owner's manual too I needed it to replace my 1997 ebike but only because it was cheaper to buy a new E bike than it was to fix the old one. The Nakto City Cruiser pales in comparison to The Power older ebikes put out a decade and more ago Virtually everything about the new bikes is inferior to the old ones The head light is weak flimsy and can't even stay in place., the basket looks like it belongs on a girl's bike and feels frail, the horn sounds like it belongs on a child's tricycle and there was a thick layer of rust coming out of the front of the bike where the forks bolt on and the handlebars attached That's not good considering this thing couldn't have even been made a year ago I thought the bike was supposed to be made out of some kind of carbon alloy but it clearly rusts I got the bike to commute to work and I have a rather large Hill to go over on my way to work which was no problem for the old 1997 E Bike It would climb the hill at 25 miles an hour and go down it at 33 miles an hour this new NAKTO City Cruiser is incapable of climbing the hill on its own power and un like the old bike which lasted well over 20 years I will be surprised if this piece of crap last more than one year needless to say I'm keeping the old bike and I'm going to continue trying to invest in repairing it instead of wasting my money on another new piece of crap that is designed to fall apart about the time the warranty expires I like the heavy weight of the old bike better than the light weight of the new bike the bike being heavy made it harder to steal if you don't have anything to lock it to but running a chain through the wheels and frame this new bike a child could run off with it however I do like the kickstand that will take some getting used to and it is nice to have an actual throttle instead of a lever but really the only Improvement the only thing that hasn't been downgraded from the original bikes is the ability to put a key and the battery instead of opening a secret compartment and pushing a button The use of the key does make it more difficult for thieves and the extra distance that the bike claims it can go I am yet to test the old bikes were good for 6 to 10 miles and it took one hour to fully charge it the new bike claims you can go for 30 Mi I believe and it takes over 4 hours to charge it I do not believe thats an Improvement., Unless your daily commute is ridiculously far My work is 6 miles from home and I could put the bike on the charger at work right at home and put it on the charger when I wake up in the morning before jumping in the shower Waiting 1 hour for the bike to charge is no problem waiting for hours for the bike to charge it is frustrating because of how annoying it is to wait so long to charge it it will be easy to neglect the charge and then run out of power while you're trying to get to work and I'm like the old bike you can't just pull up to the Circle K plug it in to charge it and kick back and eat a hot dog and drink a soda wasting 1 hour to charge you bike is easy trying to come up with for hours to spare to charge the bike will be excruciating

The rear brake is a type of drum brake called a band brake the same as you find on a scooter, source www.sheldonbrown.com/band-brakes.html. A colleague has been riding a Nakto Camel to work daily for over a year so it seems reliable, though the paintwork is scratched up after that time it is at least white which is more visible. Nakto ebikes are listed on the Walmart, Amazon, and eBay US sites so they've got national distribution, though they are sold by 3rd party sellers.

Don’t buy it. I requested a refund literally 2 days after I got it b/c it wasn’t working and they continued to convince me to keep it, ultimately refusing my refund. Once again… DON’T BUY IT!!

Under $650.00 and it almost has to have a lead acid battery. Too much weight and not enough power in a led acid battery. Lithium batteries are the breakthrough that has really allowed the explosion in popularity of efficient, light weight, and long range electric bikes.

@@ronaldharris6569 - steel frames should cost less, so this steel-frame Nakto is expensive. Battery is total cr-ap, users reported 25% loss after 750 miles - this is ~ 30 cycles.

a simple amazon $12.00 phone mount and a free GPS phone app would have given your viewers a speed....guess you spent your whole $649.00 on the bike so you couldn't afford 12 bucks for a handlebar phone mount

Totally worthless review. Not a single thing was said about range. Yet he makes a big deal about speed. I don't care about speed as long as it will go 7-8 mph. I do care about range, because, being disabled, if the battery goes dead, I am stranded. I don't know what this guy is doing reviewing ebikes, since all he ever does is pedal, he should be reviewing pedal bikes. The only reason I even need pedals on an ebike is to make it legally a bicycle.

10Ah battery and you probably drained it nearly every day? LiPo batteries don't like being below 30% for long life, but it's very possible you had some bad cells in the cheapie battery pack. a good pack would up the cost of this $200 at least, so it is what it is. I know good packs start around $400 and controllers $175 so you know where they saved cost at with a whole package at $650

Cheap!!?? You call $650 cheap? There is not a bike in the world, manual or electric, worth more than $200! This and most other ebike companies are ripoffs! I can get a $50 bike at Walmart, add a $150 motor and it's as good as these ridiculously priced ones! They are just taking advantage of the ebike craze going on! Baah humbug!
