One of the few things I didn't like about this series was that they made Nami's fights shorter and shorter as the series went along to the point she was pretty much completely MIA from the finale fight. Which doesn't make much sense narratively since that's what Nami's story was accumulating to. The entire battle was being built like the entire team plus the village was finally going to stand up to Arlong's crew, but instead the fight actually looked like Sanji, Zoro (who's still injured) and Luffy wipes out Arlong's entire force by just the 3 of them which did not felt satisfying in the slightest with the prior buildup. It would be like watching the X-men attack the Weapon X training facility and it's only Cyclops, Beast and Gambit fighting while everyone else including Wolverine is completely MIA from the battle despite it's his story. It's only the first season so I'll give it a pass for now. I just hope the creators aren't planning to turn this show's fights into what Dragonball Super devolved into aka Goku and Vegeta fights everyone while most every other character walk off to the side. Except Majim Buu who will sleep off to the side. I'm just hoping future fights involve more characters and not so slanted towards Luffy, Zoro and I guess Sanji now doing all the work while everyone else disappears somewhere.

@@inesatt1313 Thanks! Some fights in the show I can understand, others I'm not a fan of in the slightest. I just checked out the anime fights in comparison. The Axe Hand Morgan fight Luffy beats Morgan solo while the marines just watched jaw dropped. The fight looked pretty stupid if I'm being honest so glad they changed it. However why was Nami not part of the Axe Hand Morgan fight since the scene was suppose to show how well they worked as a team? I'm glad the marines didn't just stand there like idiots and showed competency, but they really should've showed the 3 of them beating the initial group of marines. Then Morgan comes out and does his speech as they finish up the last of the marine group, then all 3 of them fights him. Having random marines come out so Nami can be left out of it feels so 90s to me. No complaints about the Buggy the clown fight, that's how I would've expected it to go like. Also was not a fan of the anime fight in the slightest. Especially with how Luffy just beat Buggy with sheer brute force instead of the clever way they beat him in the series. Okay I sense anime Luffy is the classic creator's darling who's going to beat every big boss and every important opponent all by himself, and if he has any issues, he just has to reach the next power level by screaming alot. Yeah that's very annoying. The Cat Pirates and Kuro fight in the anime, oh god it's another "Luffy solos everyone with brute force, why does his team even exist?" fight. Are all the anime fights this bland and boring? Even the locations look similar. Again the series fights I like how characters are acting smarter. Nami I can understand trying her best, but Kuro was too fast for her, but not sure why she couldn't have participated in taking out his crew? Just lead Kaya out of the vicinity of Kuro, eventually hear Zoro and the rest of them fighting in the main hall, tell her to go hide somewhere and she helps Zoro take out one of them. The fight against Arlong in the finale I was the most disappointed in show wise, but looking at the anime, it's actually the most faithful. Main real difference is that Nami and the rest of the town was watching from the side. Honestly they should've changed it to include Nami and the rest of the villagers, especially that guy (forgot his name) with the scarred face who was originally collecting from the town. Have Usopp and part of the village bait part of Arlong's crew away from their base and into the forest where they have traps. Mainly firebomb style traps. While the rest steals the map and attack their base. There's actually a scene in the anime where one of the fish people tries to drown Sanji in the pool. I think they should've included that as well as show Zoro is still injured to show why they need Nami and the rest of the villagers helping them in the fight out in the poolside area. Would've felt more impactful. Just watching Zoro and some random chef with mysterious kung fu abilities was all they needed this whole time to beat Arlong's crew just feels cheap. Again I'll give them a pass since this is still first season and especially with how the anime fights played out like, but I hope the creators let Nami be more proactive in the more important and impactful fights instead of making it look like Dragonball Super. The fans did not like the use of the other characters on that show in the slightest that the creators literally had to create a whole movie (Dragonball Super: Superhero) just to rectify why the majority of the cast was not allowed to be part of the fights outside of Goku and Vegeta.

I mean, Zoro and Luffy have super powers and Ussop is a sharpshooter, Nami had zero powers and no weapons but still managed to kick some ass because she isnt fragile, later on she gained some more agency as an action girl tho.

Let's hope she stays that way in the next season. I honestly hope they cut out "Happiness Punch;" this show should not turn into Game of Thrones.

Maybe, but there are plenty of fanworks that pair Luffy with other characters, and with Oda's role in the production that'll likely never happen. 20 decades on and despite how Luffy and Nami are the closest out of all the Straw Hats, but romance might destroy the close friendship they both have. Out of Shonen Anime, or adaptations, romance or interest in it between male and female leads are extremely common: from Kenshin+Karo to Naruto+Sakura, Goku+Chi-chi or Bulma, to Guts+Casca. Luffy and Nami is almost refreshing since they are different from the romance between other pairs. They're not siblings, but they will fight or go to the ends of the earth for people closest to them. In most entertainment, this pattern between a two guys or a pair of ladies make them admirable, yet between boy and girl the audience might complain about no romance between them. Luffy and Nami are different, standing about from the other couples and I'd like to see them continue that way. Don't get me wrong, I am a Luffy/Nami shipper, but I'd rather see One Piece Live Action stand apart from other shows. And the best strengths of this show was not changing anything too drastic from the Anime, keeping the best parts and finding ways to cut out what turned-out less entertaining for fans, and answering what we wanted the most. Usopp and Kaya's kiss, skipping the fight with Krieg, Zoro vs. Mihawk, Nami asking Luffy to help her, Coby and Luffy's friendship, and Sanji and Zeff. If Zoro vs. Mihawk had failed to live up to the original, the show would have been torn to pieces worse than 2010's "Avatar the Last Airbender." Why mess with the formula by adding romance between the Straw Hat's, not counting Sanji's slap-stick dreams.
