Ya Nami reading Noland stories to Zoro while he was recovering in her bed. And her being so upset when she thought he was going to die. I was so happy for these character interactions. i wish there was more of this in one piece.

@@ariqsyafwan4987 there is recent interview with the netflix scriptwriter, there they say that this wasn't intentional, then oda told them no romance between crew members. Dude watch the anime and you'll understand the dynamic, trust me oda only pairs nami with luffy, he portrays them as king and queen.

I’d honestly never understood Zoro and Nami shippers until I watched the live action. The actors do have chemistry. That said, this would NOT be a good idea unless Oda decided to make it canon. And that’s unlikely because in the original series they have NO chemistry, at least imo. In the anime and manga, neither of them seem interested in each other in the slightest and it doesn’t seem like they’re even as close as they are in the live action. In fact, Oda has hinted more at a Nami and Luffy relationship through the promotional material, movies, etc. But he’s alrady stated that for now, there will be no romance between the Straw Hats. He says he’s awful at writing romance but who knows. 😂 The adaptation has been successful because it’s extremely respectful of the source material. They know not to mess that up.

Unless oda the creator of the manga allows it which i highly doubt it ls not gonna happen. And mackenyu the actor of zorro is married with a kid. And in the anime theres very mild chemistry vibes from them but its over such a long time that you cant call it romance although i agree nami and zorro have the best chance of it even with the love action but with it its like a whole nother level because of the actors insane chemistry and i think the script gives them more of that too.

Actually one of the reasons this season got hype is thanks to this unforceful chemistry. If they cut it out next season i doubt the success will be the same. Both nami and zoro in fandom already hold big influence and their interaction imo not that diff than manga, its just some missed this and took it as it never happened. Nami and Zoro ship got so big in the past before timeskip which led Oda the mangaka to cut their interaction less and less

@@Nina-nf4pc nah, the netflix writer even said Oda told them no romance between the crew in the live action, the netflix writer himself said it wasn't intentional, I think the chemistry was more between the 2 actors. Like I said, this dynamic does not exist and will not exist in the manga and anime so don't get fooled by the Netflix writers. zoros pairing will most likely be tashigi or hyori, you need to watch the anime to udnerstand.

People say this happening would undermine the crew and mess with their dynamics on the sea, but I definitely think after they find the One Piece which they must do eventually they'd live their separate lives and these two could have a chance. It probably won't happen but its not like there isnt any likely scenario.

I'm even saying that Oda can go all out for adventure in the story till the end and then after finding one piece, he can maybe create short/side stories based on the daily life of the characters and their marriages/children. I will sooo take that coz I truly don't want One Piece to end EVER.

Damn OPLA singlehandedly revived this ship. I know a lot of you didn't like that the fights were short, but I really prefer this. Shorter fights and more interactions which we've been missing since timeskip. Our SHP gets more dialogues/panels with their enemies than among themselves especially nowadays. So OPLA is already special for this which is also done right.

Re watch east blue they had great dynamic all up until Skypiea. After that they don t talk as much. Up until Arlong park Zoro doesn t trust her, Logue town Nami gives him money the whole dynamic continues all the way til whiskey peak and in Arabasta they fight mr 1 and his partner. It wasn t love but their dynamic was indeed fleshed out@@MagetoLp

I'm 57 and was in a dark place some 20 odd years ago. For some reason I picked up a copy of Shonen Jump, I believe, and read One Piece for the first time. A few months later I ended up getting a subscription and looked forward to each issue coming in the mail. The positivity, mixed with a very deep, often complex series of interlocked and occasionally passing stories helped me smile. So, when I heard about the live action I had to give it a view. Ended up binge watching the whole thing over a weekend. Very impressed.

Will probably never happen. He's said again and again that there wouldn't be any relationship within the crew. Also, the romantic relationships in OP are treated like good back stories now that I think of it 😂😢. Hope he changes his mind about romance in OP as they get older, though.

@@torashi._ Not to be a dick but unless your name is Echiro Oda, your opinion on the matter doesn't hold much weight. In the end, it's his decision whether he goes through it or not. He's planted a few seeds out of intrigue & curiosity early on but left it alone for the sake of focusing on the adventure. Doesn't mean he won't one day come back to it.

Might wanna revisit the East Blue arc. There were subtle hints that Oda dropped about a possibility. In the end, it serves as a great tease & caused a buzz but that's just great writing: you plant a seed of curiosity but leave enough ambiguity that you're not so certain. That's why I think if Oda does go through with these two, it'll be considered one of the best for just coming on so naturally.

Kinda annoying how all of a sudden people are bandwagoning for raining on our shippers parade like the rest of the fandom isn’t shipping Zoro with Sanji, Luffy, and even Helmeppo for God’s sake 🤦🏾♀️ why is Zonami suddenly worse than all of those ships and people need to start flaunting the whole “NO RoMaNcE iN OnE PieCe” argument around as if we as a fandom haven’t been shipping these crewmates together since the anime first came out? 🤡 if you’re going to try and stop us from shipping Zoro and Nami because they’re “crewmates” then please go jump on the rest of the shippers tails too. Why only us?? If I didn’t know better, I’d say this is a case of insecurity and feeling threatened. Please we *know* OPLA and OP doesn’t and won’t include any romance between the crew members, but that won’t stop us from speculating what their relationship COULD be if this wasn’t the case. Or even interpreting their moments into some “unspoken romance” that we’re well aware won’t ever be confirmed.

That's very simple, anime fandoms are full of people fetishizing mlm relationships, and therefore instantly try to undermine anything standing in the way of that. One way to do it is calling Nami "a lesbian" as if their own ideas are rules set by the writer lol. Apparently they're allowed to imagine yet we aren't, cause it's only okay if it's on their terms. I've seen loads as you say Zoro x Sanji/Luffy yet no one complains, one person says they like Zoro x Nami and IT'S A DISGRACE THEY ARE "SIBLINGS"... And the same pattern in so many other fandoms. Maybe because they know the probability of their stuff happening is 0.001% meanwhile Zonami has 5%. So they get angry. Except their anger is misplaced haha.

I honestly love One Piece for not having romance in it and being Adventure and Mystery focused but honestly people had no no reason to go so mad if some people ship the crewmates coz well, it isn't canon and won't effect the story anyways. Even i ship a lot of characters in One Piece who I think would go well.

Bcs deep down ppl knew this is the ship that traditionally have better chance to happen. Its super cliche if they ended up together -hence number of haters for this ship quite big. Oda tries to subvert that by saying no romance or set zoro with Tashigi/hiyori. yet he also can't help make them perfect for each other (Opposite skills vs weakness, complementary color scheme, similar attitude toward their captain, nami santoryuu art work) Honestly, if you delve into their charachter in manga and built Live action story based on that, you will eventually come to conclusion that these two are closer than anyone led themselves to believe.

People saying nami and zoro weren’t close before.. but when the crew started and they were just few.. they actually had a lot of interaction to me.. it’s cool to see it clearer in the live action.. just hope people don’t start with their nonsense useless romance.. Not really, it just soils the bond the crewmembers have with each other. They're motivated by friendship, loyalty, and mutual respect. Adding romance to that just makes it weird. Lovers on the ship would most likely put their significant other over the crew, which betrays the ship dynamic.

@@AlbertusDeLosCorpus you are absolutely right but live action Nami and Zoro have extreme chemistry and I can't help but ship it. It's never gonna happen of course but the creators most likely know about their chemistry too. There are many franchises that have a trope that goes like 'two charas clearly meant for each other/in love with each other can't be together because of work/other circumstances that make them put duty first' like eg. O'Neill and Samantha in Star Gate, so the charas never get to be with each other but their chemistry keeps the ship sailing for many seasons. I can see them kind of play with this trope in the live action, creating more of a (lighthearted) triangle situation with Sanji in the mix in further seasons.

@@fynnfishI assume this is the route the show runners for OPLA would be taking considering the director acknowledged that the romantic nuances in Zoro and Nami’s relationship is all due to Mackenyu and Emily’s chemistry. Hence why Maeda said fans can interpret their scenes however they like even if that means it’s “romantic”. I think they’ll use Mackenyu’s and Emily’s chemistry to their advantage. Ofc never confirming any “romance” (Since Oda did say for there to be no romance between the characters.) but still enough to keep the ship going strong.

I only started watching One Piece live because of the hype I've seen on social media about the actor playing Zoro. I just saw some anime clips of Zoro and I noticed he got only one eye open. I'm gonna say it. I know Oda doesn't want romance amongst the crew, but OPLA is a different product with a different style, different audience, and ultimately will have to be approached in a different way. I think it would be a mistake to not at least consider using the innate drama of a bunch of sexy young adults with electric chemistry to the show's advantage. Different demographics have different desires and preferences for what they want, and especially in a live action, it's going to be an even more mixed bag. The action is phenomenal, the worldbuilding is going to be some of the best on tv, they have all the ingredients to also at least throw a few bones to the shippers to keep them on board too. Also it would just be more realistic in a way, like of course these people are going to fuck, are you kidding me? Have you seen 20 year olds?

the live action really got people shipping nami and zoro out of all the characters😭lol it's so funny cause their relationship is practically nonexistent in the manga or anime💀like at all lmfaoooo the dynamic of the crew changed a lot after the "new members" joined. the only thing that hasn't changed and won't change is oda showing crew's individual connection and relationship with luffy, perks of being the mc i guess and they're all pretty much in the crew bc of luffy. you will rarely ever see nami interact with zoro at all which is a bit of a bummer but makes sense if you read the manga...oda's go to dynamics are monster trio, zosan, ussopnami, lunami, ussopluffy.....and i would go on but i dont want to spoil the other members but basically the crew loves each other and would die for each other but with a big crew you def have certain members you're just more close with than the others.

My aim was just to tell people that the relationship you're hoping for between Nami and Zoro is absolutely not in the spirit of One Piece. For me, their friendship is like something sacred, because it's exceptional. There's nothing romantic about it, but that's why it's so important.

I agree but you have to consider that anime/manga Nami is greedy, selfish, shallow, and agressive/violent. Things that are funny when she's a cartoon, but a real person acting that way would become very unlikeable very quickly. They made her more realistic, more like someone in real life, which is what any good "live action" should do. Unlike the Cowboy Bebop LA which actually seemed to make the characters even more cartoon-y than they were before.
