So I'll say this, my clubmate got to 56km knew he hasn't gonna make the cutoff started to take a walk then a SAPS KZN Officer told him get in and I'll take you then you ran again. So SAPS in itself needs a Investigation by CMA

Why investigate the officer? Was his duty to look for cheaters? If the officer is not a runner, he probably didn't know the rules. Your clubman knew the rules and now you want to blame it on someone.

Please may you provide this information to KwaZulu Nata Athletics or Comrades Marathon. We have a good relationship with SAPS we will discuss this aspect with them so that they can warn their members that it is wrong to do so.

A 2 year ban is a rather weak deterrent, especially for something like Comrades where you find 80 year olds taking part.

Thank you KZNA for getting more involved in this. Others find themselves slowing everyone down at the start in B batch yet they are sub12 finishers. You shouldn't judge a book by its cover but in running I'm sure you can put your head on a block than an obese person is not running a sub 3:20 marathon! When you search the race photos you don't see them so someone is qualifying on their behalf.. One year at a DBN qualifier I watched a lady sit in the parking lot with her friend waiting for time to pass. When I checked the tracker she had passed the first 2 timing boards at 8:15mins/k avg. She walked to the road and jogged in just after the 4:35 bus while the crowd cheered for the mama who qualified. I understand sometimes the timers don't scan your chip at certain points but her results history from the month before & beyond showed her real avg pace of 8.30-9 mins/k. I know where she trains so I asked her how her race went & if she qualified. She said yes without a hint of shame & I said really? & stared at her. She never tried to run Comrades but I found out she does this every year so I would have reported her if she wasn't caught. After last year's banning she hasn't tried it again. I also saw a lady run down a huge bank at Wally, cutting away 2ks of the first lap. Pathetic that you can be proud to be a runner always looking at that medal as a reminder of your cheating.

3 GUYS cheated in front of me,in top of Berea Tollgate above Market,they jumped off from uber they missed the start and joined the race at 2to3 kilometers from the start

Maybe 8:40 Use biometric like fingerprints being scanned at start and end of the race

Not practical, it will take hours to fingerprint scan 19000 runners at the start, and the Comrades is gun to gun. As it is, the back of the pack runners take 10 minutes to cross the start line. Facial or eye scans might work.

But why would CMA even need to go through that, Comrades is about personal satisfaction, I really believe to cheat Comrades you must really be a psychiatric case. Comrades is big and if one can't understand the satisfaction that comes with completing it hayi...

Good idea, but it will make the Race even more expensive. Already placing more technical officials on the route and multiple timing mats is expensive.

Name and shame them and make it as public as possible. These are the same people who like making noise about corruption. Officials at a club complained bitterly and even sent a letter to the Comrades when the club's name was mentioned because some members had submitted wrong qualifying times. You pass a member with 30 k's to go and when results are shown the member finished 2hours in front. Banna?
