Great layout. Meters look nice. Is the this a digital board or analog with digital features? Just curious if anyone knows...seems straight digi from the specs I've read.

How does this compare to the Xone 92 Rotary? Aside from the Allen & Heath being analog.
@digitaldjtips6 жыл бұрын
We've never played with a 92 rotary :(

Thank you. What about comparing this to the Xone 92 faders?

This would be a classic if it was Analog. It's digital however, and even though they say it will satisfy the most discerning vinyl collector, that is untrue. Digital will never be able to match the infinite sample rate and infinite bit depth of analog. There is no comparison. The only advantage digital has is convenience. I love you Rane but people should focus on how to create an analog medium that doesn't decay, not how to make high profit margin digital stuff (aka Junk in a few years when the 'next great thing' comes out [Just like your cell phone]) There is a reason why artists with the budget still track records on vintage analog mixing desks.

I would highly suggest having a play on this mixer before knocking it. Technology has come a LONG way. This mixer is built to last and there is absolutely NO way you could do what you can on this thing with an analog mixer. Not to mention... pretty much every club in the world has digital processing gear that the signal is ran through before it hits the speakers.

Zach Stone "there is absolutely NO way you could do what you can on this thing with an analog mixer." You don't know what you're talking about. The price point would be higher, but just in the sentence before that one you said it yourself: "Technology has come a LONG way."

Zach Stone You're Right. Every Club does have digital processing but, just because it's the Norm, doesn't mean it's the highest fidelity. If you use Wav's or Mp3's and you stayed in the digital realm the whole time, that's one thing, but what happens typically is this: You're songs are converted to Analog from your CDJ's, your Digital mixer then converts the song back to digital, then analog again on the way to the club's digital mixing desk or digital crossovers and so on. Again and again you are converting back and forth between the A and D worlds. By the End, you get a very sterile sound. If you are spinning vinyl like I prefer to do, converting the signal to digital even once, ruins the whole point of spinning vinyl which is to hear a pure analog sound. I'm sure the ergonomics, build, and sonics are fantastic but, as I stated, it's a digital mixer. However, you CAN do everything you can do on the 2015 with a fully analog mixer.
@MusicChemo9 жыл бұрын
gunjabeans i only mix vinyl too, but you know virtually all the records are digital (ie, not "pure analog sound") before theyre pressed to vinyl, right? vinyl sounds nicer for a lot of reasons, but that isn't one of them
@gunjabeans9 жыл бұрын
local operator Yes, a lot of the records were produced using computers or tracked digitally (Not all), but the needle reading the groove is as analog as it gets, and imparts life to the sound. Converting it through any digital means removes some of that life. It just does. I hope Rane is very successful with this mixer, but I stand by everything I've said. ("Analog will always sound more interesting than digital." Moby)

looks cool but where all the effects are, 2000 dollars for this mixer, seems like an old mixer with all these decoration, but the sounds should be really good... not very happy about it...
