Doom, unironically. He wouldn't be able to stop himself from putting forward an authentic portrayal of his and Reed's youth and trajectories but all through the lens that, while brilliant, Doom would be vindicated in the very end. He'd spare no expense in the subtle assassination of Reed's character to win the hearts and minds of the viewing audience.

Namor was first invented for an unpublished April 1939 comic called "Motion Picture Funnies Weekly # 1", which predates the Oct. 1939 debut of Timely Comics "Marvel Comics # 1", which was the first Timely/Marvel Comic. I desperately want to see a side story in which Namor hast to deal with the preparation for making a movie… renting the proper light and camera equipment, if he’s gonna make it independent or work with the union, buying film stock, making deals with the city for filming permits, locations scouting, having a production meeting going over with the cast and crew of his vision, finding a caterer, printing out copies of call sheets for everyone, reviewing the dailies and seeing if he needs reshoots, giving notes to the editor, submitting it into film festivals and trying to make deals with distributors… as someone who has made a movie on his own, I want to see how Namor dealt with being a first time director and the challenges he had to over come lol

In my headcanon I like to imagine that Namor had already produced and directed a series of surprisingly successful B-movies so he could build up the credibility and contacts in Hollywood to pull a scheme like this off. Like, throw in a scene of Namor talking with a young Stanley Kubrick and Kubrick is all like "please, Lord Namor, you are the most brilliant film director the world has ever known, please don't waste your magnificent talent on this pettiness!".

I always loved the fact that the early FF issues weren't afraid to throw in elements from the genre of Romance Comics. Sue's characterization is certainly a product of her time (and male writer/creator). I find it interesting that Namor is so charismatic that even if you have beef with him you still find yourself oddly respectful- or even attracted- of him. Not sure Reed would catch Sue's eye if she, Namor and Doom had all met in college.

More than male writer it's male reader, young male reader. Even if the writer could write a woman with more depth if the reader cannot parse that it's actually detrimental to the story. You need to give them something they can handle. People were dumber at understanding the opposite gender because they much more stuck to their own camps.

I love how they kept Namor true to costume in Black Panther 2. How do you put someone on screen in a speedo with winged feet? Dial it up to eleven! Throw on some jewelry and a nose piercing! Funnily enough, Ive always pronounced his name the way the MCU does way before the movie. My Filipino background aside and how we pronounce words lol, Ive always thought of it as his name being pronounced in the proper Atlantis way. Atlantis was a story famous among Ancient Greek and Roman scholars, and Namor's war cry is IMPERIUS REX. With those in mind, it is safe to assume that the original Atlanteans are from Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome. One can argue that their main language is some form of Ancient Greek/Latin hybrid. In Ancient Latin, there are no long vowel sounds (ay) only short vowel sounds (ah). Namor in Ancient Latin would be pronounced 'Nahmor', as opposed to the Modern English 'Naymor'.

So a difference would be more obvious than between AMerican A, Canadian eh, and an EYYYYY with fonzarelli flavoring. Well, there's a strong argument Roman's don't really get the full authorial credit over Phoenicians or something, but still beats our modern "just say it like it is written" (proceeding to mangle up some nonsense nothing like it is written).

Reading the early issues of the FF, and the rest of the MU, you see Stan growing as a writer. For the really early issues he's sort of writing in Hollywood movie mode. The continuity grew over time and the characters grew as well. But in the early days Sue was a typical 1950's movie heroine. Brave yes, but still very much the weak member of the crew. Dale Arden, Wilma Deering ect... You didn't have the punch/kick heroines that much. Sue was very much the all American Girl Friday. Also at that point Reed was written as a man obsessed with science. Yes he loved Sue, but took her for granted a lot. Give her this, Sue was a lot less flighty than the Wasp was at that time. Sue looked at Namor and was intrigued, and Namor payed a lot more attention to her, was trying to win her, in his own warped way. But at the same time he also had that built in 'surface dwellers are bad and I must kill them all' motto. So nothing ever happened in a sexual way between them. It's fun fan fic and what if, and I don't doubt that marvel would do it in a second these days given the terrible writing standard they have. But it hasn't happened yet. In 1963 the movie could have just been the fight scenes. Action sold back then, and novelty did too. The FF were brand new at that point, I don't think Avengers had formed and there must have been a lot of curiosity. I can see it making the rounds of the drive-ins easily. What was really good about the comic at the time was that the FF had real world problems, like paying rent. It was the start, much like Stan and Jack putting themselves in the comics as writing a Fantastic Four comic book (which I think happened in a few issues from this one) that was one of the selling points of the early marvel.

I know how that movie Namor made was edited, he made himself into the main star of a supervillain origin film. Nice Johnny Quest referencing then mentioning Johnny Questioning lol. The fact that the actor who played Ben and the actress who played Sue ended up together means that they being a couple is possible. Namor by the door made me think of Peter Pan and his shadow. I liked the MCU version of Namor because it brings a dimension to the character that works for the current state of the cinematic universe. I think the movie was done the same way they did the original Godzilla by using a framing device of someone viewing the fantastic four and the submariner with the Sue parts being news footage of her or just special effects of stuff on fishing wire since she is supposed to be invisible. This is me so I have to keep going deep[ into the ship that never kept going of Bloodwynd & Maxima when she was not trying to get with Superman.

I wonder if they'll try to undo it later like I heard they did with The Mandarin. "No, that English actor guy wasn't the REAL Mandarin! This other guy was!" This MCU Namor could be retconned into an impostor from a rival underwater kingdom and then the real Namor has to take him out. (Or they'll just be lazy and go "MULTIVERSE"!)

Yeah, Dan Slott claims to be a superfan of various characters and knows everything about them, but his Amazing Spider-Man run shows that is not the case - since most of his plots were just bad fan fiction where he wrote Peter/Spidey completely out of character and required him to have guest stars to show up to help him defeat enemies that he was able to defeat in issues written by more competent writers. So it's no surprise that he would write an issue that says that the feelings Sue and Namor have for each other never existed. As pointed out in this video, it was a staple of pretty much every Namor appearance in the Lee/Kirby FF run.

My guess is that they did like all of the other Fantastic Four movies and somehow introduced Doom as the main villain.

Namor making a movie as part of a plot to defeat the Fantastic Four sounds like something a modern day comic would write as parody.

I would love to see a 1939-era Superman crossover and battle a 1939-era Sub-Mariner. The first creations of each company head to head. Sure, modern Superman would normally destroy any-era Namor, and modern-Namor would certainly best a 1939 "leap tall buildings" Superman....but both at their beginning, with Namor's strength slightly more than Superman, and Superman's resilience more than original Namor....it would be more of an even fight than people believe. I'd pay to read it.

On the subject of MCU Namor, while I'm not the biggest fan of it, I do fully understand why they changed so much about him. Aquaman has always had a lot more exposure in pop culture and general knowledge amongst non-comic fans. And with Aquaman's movie being a huge success, if they didn't change Namor, there would be endless comparisons between him and Aquaman, likely with some claiming Marvel ripped off DC, despite the fact Namor debuted first. It's very much a Hydrox/Orea situation.

Plot of the movie is a simple 'dust up before team up' where they spend half the movie fighting each other before ultimately teaming up to take on the REAL enemy: The producers of the Sharknado series!!! I wonder if they had any re-shoots...
