This song is so profound that it should become an anthem for harmony. This is a brilliant version. She watches us from a distance now.

That was so worth it, even with the nasty cut near the end. Singing - no, growling - to the Irish about not being able to comprehend the purpose of war. Love Nanci deeply.

IF ANYONE CAN FIND AND POST THE WHOLE THING I WOULD BE GRATEFUL...oh Paul, the audience is transfixed, mesmerized...they are listening and they may have given her a standing ovation but the video cuts out!!! They're in ...and some probably haven't heard real Texan before only Hollywood posers ;-| Me aka The Hick From Texas.

That’s exactly what’s happening here, I remember the absolute love that Ireland had for Nancy Griffith at that time and how big a hit From a Distance was. A discerning audience n thrall is what you’re witnessing. RIP Nancy, what a beautiful voice.

From a distance Julie Gold The world looks blue and green And the snow capped mountains white From a distance The ocean meets the stream And the eagle takes to flight From a distance There is harmony And it echoes through the land It's the voice of hope It's the voice of peace It's the voice of every man From a distance We all have enough And no one is in need And there are no guns, No bombs, and no disease No hungry mouths to feed From a distance We are instruments Marching in a common band Playing songs of hope Playing songs of peace They are the songs of every man God is watching us God is watching us God is watching us From a distance From a distance You look like my friend Even though we are at war From a distance I just cannot comprehend What all this fighting's for From a distance There is harmony And it echoes through the land And it's the hope of hopes It's the love of loves It's the heart of every man It's the hope of hopes It's the love of loves This is the song for every man God is watching us God is watching us God is watching us From a distance Oh, God is watching us God is watching God is watching us From a distance

Unusual to see Nance singing without a guitar in her hand and a backing group around her. Still a beautiful rendition of an Amazing song. Did Nanci live in Ireland long?
@rpirl Жыл бұрын
I don't think she ever lived here but Ireland was only place that her version was a hit - Irish artists were also aware of her work early on and championed her music. she then collab'ed with some of them e.g. Mary Black, Dolores Keane

Can Nanci’s group replace this with the full version. This is such a powerful version that the whole version needs to replace this rudely cut version. Txs.
