I am glad at that ending. I kinda predicted most of it, but it did wrap up rather nicely in the loose ends I missed. Still worry about Nancy's relationship, but if this game has taught me anything, it is that one should always carry pocket pancakes to make decent friends.

The puzzle at 34:07 is the Wiccan calendar, and the words are our Sabbats or “holidays”. Yule, Imbolc (eem-bulk), Ostara (uh-stara), Beltane (bel-tain), Litha (leeth, or leeth-eh), Lughnasadh (loo-na-sa) also called Lamas (la-mah-sh, Mabon, and Samhain (souw-en).

They had a team specifically for the end story which is weird but probably explains the sudden shift in interestingness.

Mei: Is down in the tunnels that have a tendency of caving in and aaaall the extraneous NPCs decide to spout out their tragic backstory. Me: Is now really the right time?! Also, the names for that puzzle are pagan holidays and everything else are the dates, zodiacs and elements corresponding to that particular time of the year. The circle is basically a glorified calendar for "witches".

I just love how with these sorts of things the person behind it just confesses it all once its all been laid out.

If you are looking for the other ND games to play here are some of my favs: The White Wolf of Icicle Creek - it has nice winter vibes of cozy forest cabin; Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon - personal favorite, Agatha Christie Murder on the Orient Express inspired; Curse of Blackmoor Manor - it has a lot of really good puzzles and considered one of the best game in series; Secret of the Old Clock - it's about 1930s, the only game that takes place in past; Shadow at the Water’s Edge - cool Japan horror vibes ;)

I’m really glad the Nancy Drew games are getting some love!!! I had Danger on Deception Island and White Wolf of Icicle Creek when I was a kid, and watching you play through the other games made me how much I love them! I even bought a few! Thanks for sticking with it even though it was kinda a drag at parts ❤️

...I just have to say that as someone who knows about the wheel of the year and kind of follows it...watching her try to solve the puzzle to get to the will was driving me insane XD It's not an intuitively designed puzzle at all (like it never would have occurred to me to include Litha in there since Yule is a festival to celebrate the return of the sun and the days getting longer/brighter, so for me you only need one button for that outer ring, since the clue is about her days getting brighter after midwinter), so it's absolutely not her fault, but her chat is consistently giving her the wrong dates for the third ring and it's driving me batty because the dates are lined up with the holidays she needs to pay attention to

The reaming Nancy gave the judge at the end was definitely the best part of the game lol Though my immediate thought was unfortunately “No way this rich ass white judge would accept this from a young woman.” But he’s clearly shown he’s an idiot so Also I love that it gave you the option to give the house to anyone besides Lauren, as if anyone has a better claim to the house., She has literally lived there most of her life and WAS LEGALLY GIVEN IT IN A WILL. Like I appreciate all the effort Teegan’s putting into making sure all the victims are known and their descendants are notified, but there is literally no need to give them this ruin of a house when all they’ve done is shout uncreative phrases in front of a courthouse. Anyway, in general I liked the writing and voice acting, though there are of course a few exceptions. I loved Deirdre the whole time and Mei was great at the end. “Just call the airline” lol someone finally remembers they have phones and can call people not in the immediate vicinity. In terms of older games, the main one I remember fondly is Warnings at Waverly Academy, which is relevant to this game since Mei will be studying art at Waverly!

Hi Gab, I'm about 6 months late and I have to say thanks for playing ND:MID, but honestly, this game was a disappointment (the game, not you, you're awesome!). I've been a fan of the Nancy Drew games since 2005 or something. I've played since the 3rd game until the 32nd game. This game is the 33rd. As what you have already known, this was HerInteractive's step to move to the new but they lost a lot of their quality. This game was their 'testing the waters' game so the puzzles were honestly bad. It is sad that us fans waited for 4-5 years for this but we got a talking simulator with a dash of cooking mama. The puzzles also were confusing and lacks depth. I hope you'd have time to get into the old games as what everyone says -- here are a list of my recommendations: 1.) Shadow's at the Water's Edge (23) -- As what majority had recommended, this game takes place in Japan which I'm sure you'd like! Plus, this was one of the games that really scared me so much. It also shows a lot of Japanese culture and superstitions as well. 2.) Message In The Haunted Mansion (3) -- The first game that I got into, really scary and creepy vibes. The fact that it is from 2000, gives the game eerie vibes. 3.) Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake (7) -- I remember playing this game and I had a giant labrador as a pet and damn, every time during night time, my labrador will look like one of those ghost dogs and scared the fuck out of me. 4.) Labyrinth of Lies (31) -- Based on Greek mythology, definitely a must play if you're into mythology 5.) The Silent Spy (29) -- About the story of Nancy's mother, what she is and what happened to her. 6.) The Phantom of Venice (18) -- Honestly, I can't remember much about all the games anymore (it's been years), but the fact that I can clearly remember this game means it is memorable. And as of course, the horror specific ones: 7.) The Haunting of Castle Malloy 8.) Ghost of Thornton Hall I really hope you'd find time to play, even just one more and give these series a chance! i watched this after we finished the ryokan one in the streams and it may not have been the best gameplay-wise but i like this nancy so much more and i actually got very invested in the characters,,, i think the problems can be fixed with more balanced and better puzzles and they also gotta get rid of the google maps view. the ryokan ones ending was so obvious as well this one actually had twists and stuff i really liked the story,,, at least nancy isnt as nosy lmao

For the tile puzzle, I only recognized three holidays but it looks like you have to match up the holiday with the date and the horoscope symbol. I have no idea what the triangles are for but I recognized Samhain, Yule, and Litha which are almost sequential in the Wheel of the Year.

You should definitely continue with the older Nancy Drew games! But since you love mystery and hidden object games. A series you should do is called Phantasmat from Big Fish Games. It is one of the best hidden object game series ever! Their is like 13 games in total so far. But the first one will always be a fav of mine. You should definitely check it out and play! I think you’d enjoy it! ☺️

If you want to play another game with the Hardy Boys you should play Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon! They're also phone friends in a lot of the old games and also had their own DS game!

I feel like everyone has a puzzle type they find difficult. I guess for her it is the gear puzzles where you have to create a linear path from Point A to Point B. They are commonly created using different sized gears but I have seen it done with string and circuit boards. My puzzle is the sliding puzzles where it is a grid/ tic-tac-toe board and there is one empty space. You have to create a picture or find the hidden compartment behind the sliding pieces.

Honestly, this game was so bad idk why I kept watching but I finished all your Nancy Drew games now haha bc I really enjoyed the earlier games you played

I wonder whether the choice of "street view"-style movement was perhaps intended to make the game accessible to those who might have trouble with free-roam first-person movement (such as by virtue of motion-sickness). I suspect that there's a particularly high concentration of such people in point-and-click fandoms (since point-and-click games relatively seldom use free-roam first-person cameras), meaning that the devs might have been concerned about possibly cutting out a large chunk of the game's potential audience. And the "street-view" approach has precedent, I believe, as I recall that a number of venerable point-and-click games have used a similar mechanic. That said, I'll grant that I didn't watch closely enough to see how it compared to those older games, so perhaps it was more-poorly implemented!
