Nancy Seaman, the Michigan mother and wife convicted of killing her husband, speaks exclusively to Megyn Kelly TODAY by phone about the night of his death, why it wasn’t premeditated, and the reasons she didn’t call the police. “I’m responsible for his death … I did not plan to do it,” Seaman says. Also, Lynn Bronson, an alternate juror from the trial, discusses why she agrees with the first-degree murder conviction.

I feel like I could have been this woman if I had not had the courage to leave my abusive husband. If I had not left he would have killed me. She showed no emotion because she has learned to cover up and continue on with the abuse of 15 years. Now she is suffering through a jail term. Living with an abusive husband is indescribable. It is easy to judge unless you have been through it. She was traumatized and was carrying on like she did after every abuse episode. Cleaning up and pretending everything was normal. I hope she is receiving counciling.

As a woman of abuse I understand this woman in the sense of the fact that she has no emotion when you're abused and you show emotion it enrages them even more to wear if you have no emotion the abused might last 15 minutes a half hour but if you show emotion it'll last for hours may continue on for days so you become numb to your emotions you show absolutely nothing

When your in a abusive situation weather or not your a the wife or a child, you learn how to control your emotions. I grew up in a horrible violent and with a abusive father. My Mom didn't believe in Divorce and had my dad not let us and went to his lover. I have no doubt that he would have murdered her. He almost did anyway. I was the youngest sibling so I had no choice but to go to see my dad. I would be crying hysterically begging my mom to not make me go. We were in a small town and he was a businessman. The police wouldn't do anything. I would cry , be shaking uncontrollably, and begging for to leave town so I didn't have to go. She couldn't do that or she would have gone to jail. The second my dad drove up. I would push all of that aside, wash my face so he couldn't see how scared I was. You have to be able to control your emotions. Because those emotions will make them thrive on the terror. I don't know much about this case but from this interview. I think it was self defense. I think in that moment in the floor with him on top, I think she snapped. We know 100% that when a victim is leaving their control is the most dangerous time for the victim(all though I hate that word). He found out she was leaving him and he went off like never before. Then in that moment she snapped. She knew that it was her or him. It sounds like she had pushed it all down, just like most women (or anyone that are being abused dose) she was doing the something she always did. Cleaning it up and acting like nothing's happened. If you don't cover up the abuse enough and someone asks about it. You would be beaten worse. She was in that fog and in shock.

It is very suspicious that she did not call the police right away and tried to cover it up. If it was self defense she had no reason to call the police right away. She butchered him to death she didn't just strike him once or twice. Also if she was truly abused for decades there would have been signs or proof.

The juror’s comment that it was unbelievable that Nancy went to Home Depot to buy the hatchet, at night, on a stormy night, in the rain? People buy tools so they can use them later all the time. I go to Lowe’s and Home Depot at night, after work so I can buy a tool so the next time I have time off that week and plan on doing yard work I have the tool I need to do that work! Its not unusual or an obvious sign of premeditation...

Nancy Seaman made one Horrific mistake....while Bob Seaman was in Arizona visiting his brother, she should have moved out at that time. She also shouldn't have purchased the condo UNTIL the divorce was final. She could have lived with her father until the divorce was settled, or rented an apartment until the divorce. Sorry....but this woman should be released.

@@siddhantrahulpatil have you ever been severely traumatized? Do you know what that does to you? He came after her like he had for years, as her son testified. She grabbed the first thing she could to defend herself from it. The judge in this case disagreed with the jury. He has years of experience on the bench.
