Man, Solder Girl, there is a lot to this soldering business. Heck, I went fifty years thinkin' there was plumbing solder, electrical solder, and then probably some kind for jewelry and stuff. You are educating a lot of us! Thanks.

I want you to know I have been binging on your videos. I recently started getting back involved in wire wrapping and I stumbled upon one of your vids. It's so nice refreshing everything I used to do. I'm constantly nodding at things you say, I look like a bobble head. Having said that I find I'm pulling out more and more equipment. Of course I need to buy a new flex-shaft, it's been 30+ years and a whole new torch system but one step at a time. Thank you, Nancy.

Great video. I hope you can help me. I started working in jewelery industry just few months ago. Unfortunately I still struggle with sprueing silver models. Small items seams to be very easy but i need some tips how to sprue large and heavy items.

So glad I found you and your channel! Can you tell me if it's possible to solder small fine silver beads to a sheet of sterling silver? I've been googling my brain out and haven't found a straightforward answer yet. Perhaps, I'm asking the wrong question.

Thank you so much for making this video. It's difficult to find classes where I live, so I have to glean what information I can from the internet. This is such a helpful resource. Also, is that a cat sleeping in the basket behind you? I saw something move around back there a few times. :)

First of all I would like to thank you for sharing your expertise. A free consulting \o/ Here we use the 18k ou 19.2k solders for soldering, and the pieces are also in 18k or 19.2k. Could you send some good recipes for solders that dont lower the carat? Or any other tip... :D We use propane (LPG, GPL, LP Gas, i dont know how you call it in the US...) and oxygen torch ... i dont know if it matters... Thanks a lot!

How do you harden 24k Gold or .999 Silver? I've asked the question on Rio Grande Forum, but nobody has answered my question..
@dadrules714
@dadrules714 8 жыл бұрын
+MARK “Mark 1” ONE I'm a retired machinist and I recover gold/silver/plat/palladium from electronics. Not sure what you mean by "harden". Pure gold and silver are generally soft like copper & brass. It is always best when soldering to use the same Carat wt solder. Hard Vs soft solder has to deal with the metallurgy and melting temps. I've managed to solder 23k w/ 10k solder successfully. I can't call my recovered prec metals 99.999 w/o an assay. so I call it 23k But if you want to make pure gold or silver harder you would create an alloy by smelting with other metals like Nickle and copper. I'm a few grams shy of 1/2 troy Oz of 23k and plan on casting a snake head for my cane.

I know what you mean by that flash of silver running across...i had full succsess with filling a small hole on a ring face with running silver...working with pure fine nine silver and its my first 2 ounces...i never worked with any metals except pcb's...silversmith is what i call myself now...lol...the flash of pure silver across the surface of a pure silver ring, its magic...but i have another cast to work on... Check out my instagram bae instagram.com/codename.ide you along side other youtube smith pros have elevated my knowledge on smithing...i owe you a lifetime of gratitude! Bless you
