Suresh Gopi is an Indian actor, politician, playback singer and television presenter. Suresh Gopi works predominantly in Malayalam cinema and has also appeared in some Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Bollywood films. Suresh made his acting debut as a child in the 1965 film Odayil Ninnu. Suresh Gopi made his debut as an adult in 1986 and since then, Suresh Gopi has acted in more than 250 films. Suresh Gopi is a recipient of the National Film Award and the Kerala State Film Award in 1998 for his performance in Kaliyattam. He was a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Parliament of India. Suresh Gopi was born on 26 June 1958 in Kollam, Kerala, India to K. Gopinathan Pillai, a film distributor, and V. Gnanalekshmi Amma, as their eldest son. He has three younger brothers Subhash Gopi, Sunil Gopi and Sanil Gopi. He was brought up in Kollam. Gopi was educated at the Infant Jesus Anglo-Indian School in Kollam. Suresh Gopi then joined the Fatima Mata National College in Kollam for his higher studies. Suresh Gopi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and Master of Arts degree in English literature. Suresh Gopi made his debut as a child artist in 1965 by playing a small role in Odayil Ninnu. Later he made his debut as an adult in 1986 with an uncredited role in Niramulla Raavukal. Suresh Gopi gained attention through the minor role of a prospective groom in T. P. Balagopalan M. A. Suresh Gopi went on to play few antagonistic and numerous supporting roles throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Nandini commonly known as Kausalya, is an Indian actress and model, who has starred mainly in South Indian cinema. After starting her career in leading roles, she has since gone on to portray supporting roles. In 2004, she attempted to make a comeback as a lead actress but unfortunately several of her projects became delayed. Films such as Thiagarajan's Police which starred her alongside Prashanth, Manadhil with Karthik, Vendumadi Nee Enakku and Rosappoo Chinna Rosappoo with Sathyaraj, were readied but then stalled in quick succession.
Lelam is a 1997 Indian Malayalam-language action thriller film directed by Joshiy and written by Renji Panicker. It stars Suresh Gopi and M. G. Soman with Siddique, N. F. Varghese, Nandini, Maniyanpilla Raju, Vijayakumar, Spadikam George, and Kaviyoor Renuka in supporting roles. It was also the last film of the veteran actor M.G. Soman. The story revolves around the rivalry between two liquor business groups, the Aanakkattil family and Kadayadi family. The film was dubbed in Tamil as Yelam and into Telugu as Royal Challenge. Lelam was a blockbuster at the box-office and is also among the highest grossers of the 1990s.
