My favorite thing about micro lures is that you can also catch big fish with them, and the fight is usually more fun if you’re using lighter tackle. I was fishing for bluegill with a tiny minnow lure and had a nice sized bass strike it. My reaction time was a little slow and I missed it lol.

@@bac1308 I just enjoy being by the water or on the water. I never really fish for one species. I’m a “fish for whatever bites” kind of guy. I’ll have live bait out while I’m working a lure just trying to catch something.

I was so thrilled for you when you did the second water test and it popped like crazy, that's awesome. My very first topwater of significance was a huge blowup on a Rebel Pop-R when I was a teenager. I did not land the fish, I didn't know how to fight a large fish yet, but I saw it jump several times with a mouth as big as my head, and that was all I needed for that moment to make topwater fishing special.

I think it would be a cool idea if you made a small crankbait (around 2 inches) but you put on as massive of an eye as you possibly can. Basically make it like a 3d eye jig head but its a crankbait. You could even paint the body to look like it has all the nasty looking connective tissue behind the eye if you wanted.

Tungsten is not toxic. Exposure to fumes if it gets hot while machine might be an irritant but that it. It's a hard material and will dull your power tools easily. Just grinding out the dust will make your burr bit less effective. When we were young we'd make darts using copper tungsten because of the weight factor, hardness, and it's resistance to corrosion. Cheers. Oh, nice popper.

I like the micro popper in principle. The paint was simple yet elegant. 2 things that stood out. "You don't need a master bait making shop..." instantly pulls out the power tools. And taking a burr bit to tungsten powder not even waring safety glasses and almost looses an eye.... really dude. Today was a bit on the sloppy side. In the shop. A mini series idea. Making bait with hand tools. Simple designs that the younger crowd can cut their teeth on. Simple brush on paint jobs. Think what you could do as a father son bait making day. That's a future idea.

Fun Fact. When you walk into Stinging Nettles look at the other plants in the same area. Ever see the plant that has little yellow/orange flowers and little bean looking things that pop as soon as you touch them? You smash a piece of it's stem in your hands and apply to the nettle burn/sting area and it heals instantly. I promise it works.
