Nanobubble Oxygenation in Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS)

Nanobubbles are miniature gas bubbles that have been shown to have unique physiological benefits for fish. Nanobubbles can also more efficiently catalyze reactions of chemicals, thereby improving the efficiency of recirculating water treatment. Nanobubbles may also enhance activities of microbes and improve biofiltration in RAS. They are an environmentally friendly technique that could possibly reduce the size of the filtration systems resulting in significant potential for design and operational cost reduction.
This project will seek to study the revolutionary potential of nanobubbles at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Northern Aquaculture Demonstration Facility with collaborators:

I was surprise to find out about this and more surprised that nanobubble tech has been around for so long. This could be a game changer for aquaculture if the energy analysis comes out to be acceptable. But with renewables, this should not be a problem (just an ROI calculation)

Great intro video. Do you have any research planned to study the efficacy of nanobubbles for reducing the effects of eutrophication?

Thank you for your comment, and no not at the moment, we are focusing mainly for use in RAS at this time.

@@rahmanshaik we actually had the nano bubble generator in a sump that fed the fish tanks directly via gravity. Please email our Operations Manager and we can further discuss: tyfirkus@uwsp.edu

I have just graduated last year and in a week fist juvenile fish arriving to my modest farm around 5000 fingerlings. I am really concerned about oxygen now the price is four times higher, what is the best solution .... thanks

We are tracking total dissolved gases throughout the project have not seen any major issues so far

Water is not H2O, oxygen is hydrophobic it can not dissolve in water! fish breathe in water as do we with the water vapor in the air.

Its a bad design,non eficient ,high energy consuming if your injecting air into water and especially fresh water wich is less dense than saltwater and bubbles unite faster this reducing the surface area of the bubbles. Overall its a good sistem for oxigenation and water cleaning but you do it wrong ,non efficient.

You might want to do some studying up on what nanobubbles are before you make statements like this. You dont seem to understand what they are.
