Great reaction guys! 166 was an old prefix number used in Italy for “hotline phone numbers”. In TV there were commercial advices (late in the night) of these ladies, each with a 166 phone number. You were able to call them paying an extra cost on your phone bill. No more in use since 2010… By the way… if you want to hear the best song the Blind Guardian never wrote.. go for Quest for Carrefour 👍 Greetings from Italy 🇮🇹

Nanowar also has a song The number of the bitch, which goes like 166 - the number of the bitch 144 - the number of the whore:) And since Charotte the Harlot (hooker in ye olde Englishe) is also a Maiden song, and hookers of the olden days were notorious for sex-related diseases, and hookers' clientele mainly consisted of sailors - Nanowar are juststating the obvious here, saying that it was the Ancient Mariner who Charlotte had contracted her Virus from :)

The first guitar solo is the exact Trooper-solo. The 'virus' is due to the Maiden- single from 1996. Musically this is exactly in the 1996-1999 era, just before Blaze left. The drumsound is between Virtual XI and Brave New World.

The number 166 is a very specific italian pop culture reference. In late 90s/early 2000s (in the nokia era), before internet and social media, there were thousands of erotic numbers where you could have phone sex with women. And those numbers began with 144 or 166.

Like someone said below, Charlotte the Harlot is from the first album. It is a "prequel" to 22 Acacia Avenue. This song from NofS is excellent and I was happy to see the drums being played full steam ahead like the good old days. Unfortunately, Nicko is no longer able to play this kind of song (due to his arthritis).

One of the reasons, that Nanowar are coming up with more exciting stuff in the style of other bands, than the actual bands themselves, is that the "Originals" kind of forgott how to make the music, that their fans expect (and love) from them in the first place

'This is Maiden from before Fear of the Dark'. There are a huge number of Blaze era references in this song - not just lyrically, musically too. I could go on - though I realise I am a big fan their whole discography, probably with a 2000-10 preference (though even that is old now), and could become a broken record.

166 and the Nokia is a self referential Easter egg for us that have known Nanowar since 2005, such as myself. Back in the days they had a song “The number of the b*tch” that’s very funny. Not as deep as their more recent stuff but still very funny, I won’t spoil it for you. You’ll love it
