A pesar que la frase "El pueblo unido, jamas sera vencido" se le atribuye a varios países iberoamericanos, la música y letra de la canción la universalizo el grupo chileno Quilapayun, en el exilio durante la dictadura... de hecho hay versiones de este verdadero himno en muchos idiomas...

Since after 2 years I've found out that this comment got more attention whan I ever though it would, I figured I'd upgrade it a wee bit, by providing original lyrics written in the latin alphabet. Note that it's not 100% accurate, as we have 8 more damn letters than you do, but still. Y'all should be able to sing along(or at least try to). Some notes: my "i"s represent the "i" sound as in see or diva my "e"s represent the "æ" as in cat Also I use the apostrophe to indicate "soft" consonants, i.e. the "S" in "Sam" is hard, but in "seek" it's soft. UPD. The apostrophes are mostly gone and replaced with "y" for improved readability as per request in the comments. I na myig syebe pryedstav' myirnuyu planyetu. Im currently living in Mexico and i must say that their spanish is really impressive, i mean a band that can speak russian, german,english and spanish its something like WOW, i mean spanish is hard as fuck specially for russians, but their pronunciation is very correct and fluid, im impreesed, be blessed Mother Russia¡¡¡ now that is a real nation.

Sergio Ortega dice que se inspiró en un joven que iba gritando por la calle una consigna, en Junio de 1973... Antes del Golpe. Si bien es una frase armada muy fácil de repetir y aludir a un movimiento o país, sólo Quilapayún pudo retratarla tan bien en una canción que fue usada por otros grupos sin disputarse nunca los derechos de autor.

El Pueblo Unido , jamas sera vencido !! es un lema de CHILE ! que lleva más de 4 decadas que todos conocen esto fue por protestas al lamentable golpe militar que hubo en el 73... les quedo muy bien, la canción los felicito.... es una frase muy poderosa en CHILE!

+Penguincamp depends on region, here on mexico ( i lived near the frontier) met some austrians and they told me the almost every woman of their town knew the Mexican variant of spanish because they love our "telenovelas" or as gringos call them "opera soap" (something like it was the translation USA gave them, i dont remmenber and im too lazy to google it) therefore they learned from their mothers.
