I’ll never forget taking my dad to see this in theaters when I was 15. The looks he gave me the whole time of “what are we watching?” Then him quoting the movie constantly weeks later and laughing and still does to this day. This movie is priceless.

@@MarcusAurelius12 lmao 😂 omg nooooooo!!! I could never imagine taking parents, none the less in laws if I had them to see it. I did take my mom (wholesome, Christian woman who never even swears) when I was 16 to see Step Brothers. My face turned pale as a ghost when he pulled out his ya know and put them on the drum kit. I looked over at her thinking I was about to be hauled out of the theater. Instead, she was laughing so hard she was in tears!! Never had I seen my mom like that until then.

@amygenevalee6393 so my mother in law loves weed gummies, and my father in law loves flower. So I don't know who's idea it was to go to see this movie stoned, but it made it all that more hilarious. My mother in law ate 2 gummies and my father in law and I smoked before we went and saw it. My wife drove. Being stoned made it all the better. If you haven't seen Jackass 4, you gotta. The first scene where he pretends his PP is Godzilla made for 1 of the most awkward, funniest moments in my life. Look over at them laughing. My wife looked at me and said. Why the hell did you think this was a good idea? I soon began to realize it wasn't, and I was never going to hear the end of this. However, certain scenes had me laughing so hard I was crying in the theaters

The opening scene was very relatable for me. I lived in a very small town (graduating class of about 70 students). The elementary school, junior high and the high school were on the same grounds, so there would definitely be juniors and seniors on the bus with kids.

Yeah, there’s plenty of K-12 schools in bigger cities too so it’s not too rare Edit: I guess there’s probably more teenagers with cars + public busses/trains for K-12 schools in bigger cities, so maybe not a lot of older kids riding school busses there 🤷‍♂️

To me this movie is much more enjoyable than many straightforward cringe/awkward comedies because it's so clearly infused with a ton of heart and warmth. I just love the stilted (in a good way) mood of the whole town and it's inhabitants. Kip steals every scene he's in, and there are a bunch of amazing side characters. Uncle Rico is hilarious - and his shirts are mint. Bona fide classic film for me. I think if you were among the "popular kids" back in the day you might not get this film, it's very much for the underdogs. I love it.

My best friend had to pull out the crushed tater tots in front of the whole class 😂. She never did it again 🤣

Living in a small town (still around 2k people today) I rode the school bus and it was like this. And the feel of a small town, this movie nails it for me. I also pulled people behind me on my bike. Sometimes we were pulled behind cars if we all had roller blades. A weird mix of music, time, the net just barely a thing, arcades, crazy farmers. I worked those kinds of farm jobs. Getting paid in change sucks after a day of hard work but that was just the way of it. lol...fun times. I got to watch this with my ma one more time in 2021 before she passed and we still laughed. They don't put bleach in milk on purpose, but sometimes they wash the tanks or tubes with bleach, and so it can happen that it's not rinsed properly. I think these days it's regulated so they use another non-toxic product, but it has a strong sour taste so it can be identified. A few years ago I remember a batch of chocolate milk was contaminated by failure to rinse the tanks after having cleaned them.

Two little fun facts, when Uncle Rico throws the steak, that was the director Jared Hess who threw it off screen. Pedros actor had to scurry away on the bike because he started laughing.
