I could only find the records for one son Fernand Leon 1861- 9th December 1918 died Ile-de-France Paris. I couldn’t find out the circumstances of his death. I did find a list of siblings none of which died in WW1, interesting one died in Venezuela Charles Leon II 1855 - April 8th 1894

There is one descendant of Napoleon living in Spring Lake Park, MN.

I'm from Baltimore and he's got relations buried in Loudoun Cemetery here which also happens to be a historic Civil War Cemetery. The Bonaparte name appears on several tombstones. If I'm not mistaken they may be related to this same brother you're talking about. So yeah, it would be interesting to find out who and where their living American descendants are now, if any? Fascinating!

I am Australian and the more I learn about Napoleon 1, the more I admire him. He was a truly brilliant man. He barely lost the Battle of Waterloo. The English were losing but the Prussians arrived in time.

I've actually thought about it. He reigned longer than Napoleon I!

@@thkempe The Prussians incited the war on purpose because Bismarck needed a war. The Ems Dispatch was edited to create a furor. It was hardly the French trying to destroy Prussia. The irony is that Napoleon III didn't want the war. He was a very sick man at that point. And perhaps it is a pity that Prussia won and unified Germany under their militaristic ethos. A United Germany would have been better off under the Wittelsbachs or even the Hapsburgs. The Empire might have lasted longer.
