Good" and "Evil" are words used to describe movement or points on a reference standard or scale conceptualised by man that is based upon our shared goal with regards wellbeing and the values it incorporates like empathy altruism reciprocity equality, respect ect Whether an action is "Good" is entirely relative to the desired objective / goal one is trying to achieve, the specific situation our levels of information and understanding and the range of posible alternative actions and outcomes available. Whilst "God" is also a man made concept, the percieved whims of your "God" do not reflect these shared values and thus are irrelevant in any discussion of morality. Would you disagree ? Ok I usually agree with Charlie, but not here. You don't need religion for morality. And the student was (partially) right - there is no objective morality. We made it up to make our lives better. We don't hunt and eat each other for lunch, because we as a society decided that cannibalism is wrong. We don't rape and kill each other because we decided that those things are wrong. Morality is a social construct and it can change over time. Religion surely contributed to establishing this construct, but it's not necessary for its existence

Both they and the Jewish people held The Old Testament in common and it was only with regards jesus being the Messiah that differences occurred between these two groups and yet 6 million people were killed. One group did the dying and the other group the killing but which group do you think was which ? 🤔 A couple of simple questions for you... ( 1 ) Do you think in 194'0s Germany the killing of six million people because they rejected jesus was disgusting and immoral like I do *YES or No* ?? 🤔 ( 2 ) Do you regard a god and theology that deems those who reject jesus as deserving of eternal torment in a lake of fire upon their death to be disgusting and immoral like I do *YES or NO* ?? 🤔

Morality is rooted in empathy. It is the recognition and understanding of consciousness in others. Generally, good natured people avoid actions that hurt others because they wouldn't want that to happen to themselves. Laws preventing murder and theft etc. and society at large highlight the transactional nature of morality. The fact that any teachings of the Bible or any other religious scripture are rejected in modern society demonstrates that morality is developed independently. Furthermore, many would argue God as depicted in the Bible is immoral.

@@user-gg8zz4cy5i Yes. So, a part of your sense of morality can be transactional in nature, in the ways that you said. Natural instinct, mate protection, in-group bias, etc. etc. However, morality does not have to be defined by transaction only. Morality can come from a higher source from a religious text (e.g. Bible, Quran, Torah), morality can come from an individual’s subjective beliefs, or it can come from a secular state or government or organizations’ beliefs and systems. Many of these things go hand in hand with eachother. You mentioned how society will have laws outlawing certain things, but said things generally will exist as well as teachings within the holy books. Natural Law, particularly in the sense of what happens with nature, does line up with certain commandments or overall beliefs taught in these books or espoused in other structures. That’s not to argue for whether these religions are ultimately good or not, or right or wrong, but it is to say that they CAN and often DO line up morality-wise with the sort of self preservation and selfishness exhibited naturally and especially consciously by humans, and so do other parts of “Natural Law” or state imposed laws or a random persons’ subjective beliefs. I do think highly of a lot of what’s within certain holy books, but I also think lowly of some of them. It entirely depends on what it is. But I would not say that morality exists just based on transaction; I think that is more of just trying to make an argument

@@Jonathan-A.C. I agree with you. I don't think it's simply transactional, but society highlights that particular aspect of morality. Morality decides what is right and wrong- something that is completely subjective. I may not want to harm anyone, but there are people who would remorselessly harm me, even though they wouldn't want to be harmed. I don't really think there could be one "objective" morality. I do have a kind of deterministic viewpoint and view people as an ecosystem. My views wouldn't exist without my predestined genetic potential and the people, places, and experiences of my life so far. These genetics/people/places/experiences wouldn't exist if not for the unique mixture of genetics/people/places/experiences before them. My subjective view is that mankind has become more and more moral/ empathetic/ united throughout history. Through the lens of determinism this is super positive to me as it suggests a natural progression towards peace.

Is it not you Christians that believes you are made on the image of a PERFECT omnipotent omniscient GOD ??? Dispite the latest studies revealing there are at least 2 trillion galaxies out there. With just our own galaxy alone contains upto 400 billion stars with who knows how many planets. Yet YOU think it was all created because a god wanted to have a relationship with little ol'e YOU. 😜 Now THATS what I call "NARSOCHISTIC"

Throughout life is food, shelter, work, and love. There's always struggle! Today struggle is a Marxists social game, at least in the Western world. We have such an easy experience today. The ease of day to day life is why this kid is so mislead. This generation will be in charge in 30 years.

The Ten Commandments isn't Christian morality but Jewish morality adopted by Christianity while they chose to dismis the 600+ Jewish laws in the OT they didn't want to obey (no, Jesus dose not make up for them). Morality is subjective not God perscribed. I mean the commantment about "murder" is actually translated as "not kill illegally" becuase sometimes killing is in selfdefense or an accident or justified (death penalty and during wartime). People determine what is legal and illegal not God.

You simply ASSERT that we are a _"creation"_ and therefore have a _"creator"_ This is fallacious reasoning it's called begging the question. If your initial premise cannot be demonstrated then all that follows is nonsense. It's like saying _"the moon is made of cheese_ ........., _"therefore of course mice would like to eat it"_ 🤣😅
