Thank you this was very thorough and helpful. I'm starting out in private practice.. still under Supervision. Much to learn, but this helped me as a resource creating a case study and using narrative as a therapeutic method.

Is it possible for one to use narrative therapy on oneself without a therapist? Can I self examine myself and change my stories?

Yes, but likely only to a certain extent.

You definitely can. The benefit of working with a therapist includes having to explain how your life fits together and having another human around to ask questions when things don't seem to fit together

Do you see some risk that a "preferred identity" winds up just being a false self in the cluster B sense?
