On a cold December Saturday in 2007, the North Texas Chapter of tht National Railroad Historical Society got a behind the scenes tour of the 3 foot narrow gauge steam operations at the Six Flages Over Texas Amusement Park at Arlington, Texas.
I had first seen these locomotives when I was 12 or 13 years old. Not resembling any typical park type locomotive, I pondered where did they come from? Years later the answer was M. A. Patout & Sons sugar plantation at Patoutville, Louisiana.

Thank you for sharing this video. Are you going to upload any more vintage videos of that train? I would love to see more of videos of the Six Flags and Texas Railroad in the early 2000s

I would not be happy firing for an engineer when he is using my steam with the throttle open and the automatic brakes engaged. Sounds like he was pulling the hill with the Johnson Bar in the third notch. Charlie Patton retired in 1982 at the age of 94. He died in 1990 at the age of 102.

It’s also noted that back then I never noticed when I was a kid, but I can tell back then General Sam which was still LBC her Valve timing was way off and at the same time back then when I first met CJ P I can tell that the timing on CJP was dead on center when we go through the tunnel I couldn’t hear perfect chugging in comparison to LBC. The steam exhaust is being admitted to early and too late.

1:01 I wonder what the purpose of that metal pipe that extends out from the top of the firebox what does it do and does the green train still have that

The insulated pipe to the left looks to be a steam line to the oil atomizer/heater manifold. Another is for the feedwater injector. Cannot exactly tell in dark video.
