In this episode on our LIVE ABOARD NARROWBOAT we cruise from Weybridge to Walton on Thames.
We chat about some of the key aspects of our OFF GRID LIFESTYLE, discussing if we find it easy, along with some of the important aspects which affect us everyday and how we cope with them.
On route we enjoy visiting the riverside towns along the banks of the RIVER THAMES, Shepperton and Walton on Thames. Michael recounts an exploding sweet chestnut experience from our travels in France. We make it safely through the lock we encountered problems with just a day earlier.
One of the benefits of BOAT LIFE is meeting new people and chatting which really adds to our adventures on our TINY FLOATING HOME.

They were much bigger in the 70's. I remember them huge 😅. Chris de Burg already said.... "Don't pay the ferryman". It seems never stop raining 🌧 😒 at your place..

On the main river channel at the end of Manygate Lane Shepperton the Sunday Ferry was sixpence return. The old chap who rowed you across then spent the money at the Red Lion. Late 1950s

It's the same with everything nowadays .... product shrinking, price growing... a lot of companies are trying the old "It costs more to make smaller " ploy Typical one is with Corn Flakes .. we all know there's a lot of air space in the box. So they reduced the size of the 1kg box, and then reduced the contents to 750g. In effect still keeping the same air gap in the box

The Dunkirk flotilla was really interesting, and your tips on energy and water conservation. We did take “navy style” showers when we went on a two week sailing trip along the coast of Alaska a few years ago. Water is a precious commodity when you are on the ocean and there are no water points!

Hello that was lovely apart from the poo. Don't forget your hands are bigger than when you were a child that might be why the Curly Wurly looks smaller! Loving the Thames I cross it on the way to work but on a train not a boat. Best wishes Christine x

Same as Wagon Wheels they are more like Mini Tyres now. Curly Wurlies used to be like a foot long! All chocolate costs more and shrunk by half. Aahh the good ole days :)

Nice Video blog again guys, yes l remember when curley wurleys were twice the size , or maybe its because as we get older, our hands are bigger 😂 .... No actually all chocolate bars have shrunk and definitely more expensive. It's not nice when people leave thier dog poo on grass verges like that , you even get some people put it in a poo bag and leave it hanging from a tree branch, laziness basically. We've got a Staffie called babs . So l make sure I've got poo bags on me when l take her for a walk . The only time l might miss sum is when she's off the lead running about on the common where we live, but usually l get itand put it into the bins provided

Hi Jerry Hope your well. Glad you liked the episode. I’m with you Jerry I think all chocolate bars have shrunk! As for the poo we have to watch our step everytime we get off the boat. I think some dog owners wander on and their dogs get out of sight and poo. It’s difficult I guess to keep an eye on them but it does make life unpleasant sometimes for other towpath users. I agree it's got much smaller over the years, when i was a teenager they seemed so long but nowadays they don't last half as long.

You are a lot bigger than when you were a child … but yes they are all smaller .. look at the tins of Quality Street .. how much smaller (weight wise) they are now!

I am definitely try that shower process. Thank you. Are dog owners not required to pick up their dogs poo in the UK?

Hi. Good news in the new shower process. Saves money and water! Dog owners in Britain are required to pick up dog poo. The problem is they let them off the lead and walk ahead of the dog who then out of sight poos and so it doesn’t get picked up or owners are too busy looking at their phones to see what happens. 👍❤️
