How does chase work, i don't understand pain status

i havent even gotten chikushodo this pains me (pun intended)

I am disappointed for they change teuchi's passive, if it's 1% life lock he should be using his mystery skill reviving all of his ally who's been defeated not giving buffs to the remaining alive ally.
