I bought this game for my son the day it came out. I saw him play it twice since then lol. He complained about not having custom lobbies and that he can’t really play with his friend. As someone who’s been playing these storm games forever this is just sad to see.

This game just made it even easier to abuse the mechanics that were already a problem in Storm 4. I've been having mixed feelings about buying it. Some KZfaqrs showcase the combat gameplay online but never did a review on the entire game. Thanks for pointing out the errors in the game. Kurenai and other support characters since Storm 1 deserve a chance to have their own combat mechanics by now.

People like Globku who say that this game could eventually be the best Storm game is impossible. In terms of actual game design and content, this is overall the worst Storm game by a mile. That History mode already almost killed the game for me (Special Story mode redeemed it though; it’s the only part of this review that I disagree with you), as someone who doesn’t play online. Plus with the measly 10 new characters, it’s abundantly clear that this game is a cash-grab. With the half-assed approach for Storm 4’s story mode, the false advertising for Kakarot (no Final Flash against Perfect Cell for example), as well as its boring, repetitive gameplay especially with leveling up, and now this 1 step forward, 5 giant steps back game, I think it’s safe to say that CC2 shouldn’t make anime games anymore. Storm should die. We either need a Naruto FighterZ, a new Naruto game that adapts the anime super well, or the revival of the Clash of Ninja series, which would be like Naruto’s Budokai Tenkaichi 4.

The beginning of the new opening; the homage to OP 2 - Haruka Kanata is pretty cool but man; just instrumental? They even scuffed the OP. Storms 4 did a good joob with a hyped intro. Me and my friend predicted this would be a filler game but holy hell man. I love me some Naruto but they really selling anyone anything. I do hope people recognize the lazy & cashgrab it encourages.. The planned DLC.. :') And also.. Really would be lit seeing a more modernized/newer Clash of Ninja game. We're in a drought of 2 - 4 player brawlers..

Also the really crappy AI that all they normally do is chakra dash back to the edge of the stage and if you get them in a combo then they substitute they get away but if you do it they're instantly on you again. Also I was particularly disappointed in the Naruto vs Gara fight because he never transformed into Kurama to fight Shukaku. Also I get the history mode being short but the special story isn't even that long plus they could have included a story for Boruto it'd at least make it a bit longer to play

Glad to see more people being critical of this game instead of the usual meatriding that fills comments sections. I hate Storm's gameplay but CC2 can go pretty hard on the single player content, it's embarrassing that they marketed this as some kind of mega compilation and yet they excluded a ton of fights (and made others considerably worse experiences).

But don’t know if it’s true, but it sure seems so with those cutscenes. The English Naruto Voice actor even said that she doesn’t even remember saying the lines ever that were put in this game.

I loved playing as Anko and Shizune in the PS2 games, it pisses me off that they aren't playable in Storm. I also agree the english dub voice acting is terrible and it's made it difficult for me, to want to continue playing the game.

Remember, they just got the rights to put Boruto characters from the anime into the game not the movie, and the voices just turn on sub, I'm someone who has watched Naruto in dub many times, but in the game the voices sounded lifeless and directionless,( IT'S AI, THE VOICES ARE AI), but on the bright side CC2/Bandai said they're working fixing all the complaints the players have with an update, good thing most of this can be fixed with a update cause if not, I'm gonna drop the game, running into all those spammers is changing me, the game is fun, it's the best storm has ever been gameplay wise beside the spamming, but that shit be getting to me, shameless ass Spammers, don't know how they can have fun like that, I genuinely have fun playing the game until i run into spammers

Good job spitting facts so much, this really needed to be said. I've been playing this series since it's launch and the Ultimate Ninja series, started as a wee lad. I like the series, but I can't stand playing it unless I mod the ever living shit out of it so much that my excellent PC bricks. I'm not gonna keep playing with those dog water Rock Lee's and Might Guy's, I have to mod it so much just so I can enjoy my favorite characters being anything except shit. I remember when they removed side combos and they shortened the UJ's, but now they last for 50 seconds, why not just return the old ones? I loved Rock Lee's Storm 1, Might Guy's also, Sasuke's UJ they removed the curse mark and when he rips his hand out of your ribcage, that was so cold. Awakening UJ's were a total banger. I don't mind paying a good amount to have everything done from scratch. New UI since this one looks absolutely horrible, every character has a kid version, shippuden and Boruto version, with most having couple of them. All of them have 4 combos as they should, more ultimate's, more jutsu's, everything. I want it all and I would honestly pay 70 fucking bucks for that shit no problem. I mean, Storm 3 was the first game I ever played in a real life tournament and I kept winning that shit a lot. I like this series a lot, but it's beyond wasted. I really hope this flops so they get their act together and make something worth it.

Along with that is what seems to be a glitch in local tournament and league where if you have two people playing in it, player 2 gets switched to being player 1 when fighting computers.

Although I continue to play it outta sheer boredom and just trying to make the best of it while it still has a few Australian players to find, it's by far the worst Storm game yet. The constant chakra regen was the worst idea of all time, the new characters are all the most OP busted characters in the franchise's history they didn't even try to make them in line with the old ones. Ugh. EDIT: Competitive players DO NOT like these battle system changes lmao. This is THE least "skill based" Naruto Storm game ever released because of the jutsu spam, the OP characters and many features. The increased combo potential and removal of many i-frames that boxed you into just doing Circle Mash combos is good, but that's literally it and even then they went way too far with how you can just knock someone down, casually walk over and grab them off the ground in knockdown state.

Yea I got it on steam and got the ultimate version just in case they fixed it up. I did a review that I wouldn't recommend it because of everything you mentioned. At least they fixed the ranged characters as an improvement but that's really about it. Also half of the costumes just aren't there from 4.

I'd actually forgive everything if they at least fixed the ATROCIOUS dub voice acting in this game. My god. After you finish the story modes of a Storm game, all that's left to do is play online. And if my characters are gonna sound the way they do now until Storm 5... yikes. Madara (Reanimation) was one of my mains and he went from sounding commanding to sounding like a complete cuck

Shizune, Kurenai, and Anko were fully playable in the old Ultimate Ninja games… which automatically makes them superior to this shit where they are perfectly fine with giving us 28 Naruto clones.

It's been confirmed that the bad voices is due to it being ai generated, Naruto's voice said that's not her voice and no voice director can have her say lines like that, and kawaki's voice was only asked to do the trailer, he didn't do the same attack in game. He even tested the audio and confirmed it was All AI. So they didn't even try to make this game.

I'm enjoying it but I didn't paid to get it anyway so I'm enjoying it for free :). The Story mode is a downgrade from other Storm games tho, and the combat feels faster and if you use simplified mode feels different specially since I been playing on a keyboard instead of a controller.Simplified mode for controllers don't use it but for keyboard players it helps a lot. The new characters are also fun to play. As I said many times the only reason why it's a new game it's because they removed gameplay features and also the new features like the levels in each character. Because of removal of features if it was only an update it could break Storm 4 since removing features from an already completed game can bring serious problems. That is why it makes sense to make a new game instead. Should it be charged the full price of a big game tho? Not really, it should have been like 30$ max or something like that 70 or more it's a bit expensive for this game

Was so hyped when the first nuns came out. It was simple but I saw the potential of what it could one day evolve into as a 3d free movement fighting game. I expected characters to get deeper and deeper and their move sets to keep growing as the series went along. Then they immediately started taking moves away and focusing on being able to say they had an absurd number of characters instead of making characters deeper with more options.....by game 3 I was basically done since I felt they just wanted to milk a popular franchise's fans instead of create something that could one day stand beside respected fighting games.

Disregard the silly comments about how this was a shit take or a bad video. I think its great, its been 7 fucking years for a new entry in the series and this shitty broken game is all we have...

I agree with your opinion in most of the subjects, for me Naruto Storm Connections it doesn’t feels like a new Storm game at all, they changed only a few buttons commands and nothing more, the fact that they removed Tilts and they put the tilts moves on the second jutsus it's pretty lame, disappointing and lackluster, this game feels more like an update DLC than like an actual New Storm Game. But honestly, for me Storm 1 will remain the most Unique one from the series and the closest to the anime itself because of the very dynamic gameplay features, my reasons: Intro of characters before the encounter, unique jutsus that didn't came back to the other Storm games, longer and diverse movesets for almost any character, Awakenings in Storm 1 have also Ultimate Jutsus, Jutsus Clashes and Wall Fighting... and I can go on and on to state it why Storm 1 gameplay was the most unique one from the Storm Series, just try to Imagine Storm 4 gameplay with Storm 1 gameplay features, In my opinion that will be the Perfect Storm game. The First Storm game has the most Unique gameplay features perspective and the particular presentation of the game was so ahead of it's time in my opinion, the only downside of the first Storm game was the very lacking Story Mode Interactions, and from Storm 3 the developers cut and shortned the movesets of characters, that's why I don't agree with their choices. (By the way, my favourite Storm games and I will put them in my personal order will be: 1.Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 1 and Generations. (these have my favourite vibe and charm of the anime itself because of the dynamic gameplay features) 2. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2( for the unique Story and some Unique Boss Battles and let's not forget that Iconic "Calm Before the Storm" OST from the Characters Selection Screen and many more diverse soundtracks) 3. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Full Burst (Because of the more well-rounded diverse Story Perspective and very epic Boss Battles and also the soundtrack "Outside Konoha" and others soundtracks as well) 4. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 (mostly because of the unique option to change/switch between your characters team during the fight, this particular option mechanics should've been already in the game from the very first Storm game in my opinion) 5. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution (because of the abused and annoying Counter mechanic) 🤷🏻‍♂️

The storm legacy and trilogy already removed some of the soundtracks(not sure why if its due to copyright licensing or what) for example the final phase of Jiraya vs Pain boss there is supposed to be this emotional piano ost (called lightless struggle) but its replaced with a generic battle ost and takes away the moment. Now Connections is one upping everything

As someone who hasn’t played one of these Naruto games since the Xbox 360 era and just casually watching videos about the later games, seems pretty clear to me the issue here is the ‘monopoly’. There’s only 1 studio working on these games, and/but despite the clear improvements over the years, this is still ‘just’ UNS1 but ‘flashier’. We need a new studio to shake up the formula. Make a different type of game. Like they do with the DBZ games. Yes, they all the same story but have options. Budokai Budokai Tenkaichi Full Burst. Xenoverse Kakarot Etc. We need options.

You guys keep saying it's $60 but here in Canada it's $90 with tax. The 60fps on console with some new content made the game a buy for me but I do think removing the tilts was a mistake. Though I will say I personally think that the second Justus that aren't tilts are an improvement. But yes, the history mode so far is quite disappointing and forces me to cycle between games to quick play the boss battles in between that are missing. Though I actually greatly enjoyed the narration segments. At least I can say whatever this game lacks it gets me to appreciate the older games. Honestly, I think Storm 4 on PS5 is peak as on PS4 the frame rate was unstable and was actually better on switch.
