Nas features washes Jay it’s really not that close. People gone say Jay had bigger hit features but Jay features lyrically can’t keep up with Nasty.

How can Jay not keep up lyrically when he uses more wordplay and entendres? Jay's lyrics are more layered.

Jay does not mop the floor with Nas AT ALL. Black Republican is actually them doing what they both do best. Jay is more style and slick talk while Nas is more poetic. Nas absolutely destroys Success.

Cool lists. Two nas features I didnt hear and don’t see people commenting. Like smoke - Amy winehouse. Nas goes bananas. 2 verses! Jermaine dupri into/turn it out. On the feature we get story time nas! Leads off the album, which speaks to how high his peers, including those in the south, consider him in 98.

34:59 I know exactly what and when he's talking about. It was a few years after Life is Good but right before KD1. I remember this vividly and swore I was tripping. He sounded like he was trying a little bit harder to stay on beat than normally. He also sounded tired and uninspired, the energy was gone. And then he dropped NASIR and that confirmed my fears that he lost his flow(until the 6 album run). Why does this happen to so many rappers? The only thing I can think of is they struggle to adapt to the changing soundscape and take a while to tailor their flow to it? Jay went through this from 2009 - 2013 Ghostface went through it from 2010 - about 2016ish Prodigy went through this after the year 2000 but he went through it the worst as he never got his back sadly Eminem is currently STILL going through this and is why he's sounded "off" since about 2017. His flow has degraded every verse since Revival

@@bolder2009 there were standout moments on Nasir, those tracks being the few. But listen to White Label and you'll see what I'm talking about. I've been listening to Nas for a min(decades now) and I can just tell when he's not himself and not comfortable with the beat. He's struggling and trying too hard to fit with the beat. Kayne famously airing Nas out for being off beat on Cops Shot The Kid is another example. He was off his game for a while.

I feel Nas ultimate goal when collaborating is making a good song regardless if the guest has a better verse, Royce did the same on Boblo Boat with J.Cole. J.Cole verse was outstanding, Royce could've hated and went back and out rapped him but he knew the song was more important than ego.
