There is absolutely nothing like sitting on the porch at night time with your family eating watermelon, or sipping some bourbon , yak or just sweet tea. Laughing , singing or just enjoying the night air. That’s some real southern rooted culture. That’s how family do it down South. Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, North and South Carolina Kentucky and Florida all can relate. Nas feel the energy of the south that’s why he’s in the mood to do that. Dude is free spirited. He wants the full experience. Salute King

I get your point, but Nas is talkin specifically New Orleans. New Orleans is a mystical type of city with it's voodoo roots, spicy cuisine, big plantation style houses, creole heritage, jazz roots, the Mississippi River and that overall spooky feel to it. I doubt Nas would look at Miami, Atlanta or Houston in the same way. Although those southern cities are great, for this particular video I feel as though Nas is specifically talkin about that New Orleans culture. I'm from Jersey and I felt that same spirit when I went to Mardi Gras back in the day.
@nawfsidehtown34523 жыл бұрын
@@al5603 If you not from the south then you don’t know what you’re talking about. You couldn’t tell New Orleans from Galveston Tx if I took you there. The exact same homes sitting right there all up and down Broadway. The same style cemeteries. They even have Marsi Gras. A slave is a slave . Those Haitians influenced New Orleans because Haitians came to New Orleans after the rebellion.Houston is highly influenced by Louisiana with culture because damn near a high percent of blacks that live in Houston are from Louisiana. So anything accept for Voodoo and the jazz thing These cities have.The South is the South
@al56033 жыл бұрын
@@nawfsidehtown3452 What are you talkin about? You don't have to be from the south to have experienced the south. Yeah those places that you named maybe similar to New Orleans, but they're not New Orleans. Nas was specifically talkin N.O. that's why he mentioned ghosts and jazz. I got family that I used to visit in North Carolina and Georgia as a kid. I went to Hampton University in Virginia. I chilled in New Orleans, Miami and Atlanta, so I know about the south. I love the south, so this ain't no diss. But Nas is specifically talkin about that New Orleans vibe in this video. And the south ain't the south. Newport News, Va ain't NOTHING like New Orleans. Miami ain't NOTHING like New Orleans, Raleigh, N.C. ain't NOTHING like New Orleans, etc. And I'm not saying New Orleans is better or worse than any other southern city, but it does have it's own unique culture.

Weird?! He’s in touch with the creator and his ancestors they speak to him and through him. He can see and appreciate the manifestation of our creative expression that is evident in the craftsmanship displayed in the beautifully built old NO homes, and in the home of jazz music that his father played and us Queens kids growing up in the 80’s and 90’s that influenced the way we walked and talked. NYC became a Mecca for Jazz music and the greats were our elders, it is the reason why Queens gave birth to the most legendary MC’s than anywhere else on the planet. Though many of us were 1st generation Americans over parents foreign born, Jazz influenced us all and we turned it into hip hop. We still always respected New Orleans as the home. I guess depending on who you are and where you are from he could be perceived as weird, but I think of him as an old soul with a strong connection to the past , present, and future all at once. The music is what allows all those voices to speak to us. You might find that most of our best rappers are very intelligent, nerdy or weird, as some may call them. It’s what makes them special, his voice is unique. I love his perspective, a grown man who has taken the time and effort to develop his mind and his parents, where unfortunately many of our black men have remained juvenile in their thoughts and actions, as many had no intelligent, resourceful leadership of a strong responsible father to learn from. Some have gray hair and beards while they are mentally still children.

@@Msboochie2 the creator and the ancestors speak to him huh? And they haven't given him an idea for an invention that would economically uplift the black community? No 🤷🏾♂️
