As a 14 year old Black kid from a middle class family, living in an integrated middle class neighborhood and going to a majority White & Hispanic grammar school at the time (Fall of 1996), I know EXACTLY what you mean... These kids today have NO idea what it's like to be a child of the 80s and teen in the 90s...I feel sorry for them, LOL!

It's sad huh what does that entail, they the powers that be don't want the real to nourish the minds of the impressionable. Party and Bullisht seems to flood the marketplace with no signs of letting up. Nas is my favorite emcee of all time and this All That Performance proves he was way beyond his years creatively he's only 23 or 24 at this time the 90's great decade.....

All the young shorties yelling "Go Nas" was so priceless, I can only imagine what that did for his pride, you saw the smiles on their faces. That was the best thing about that, this man was able to vibe with the youth, and that record is so powerful man, the message in the street dreams remix is amazing, I wish the youth of this generation gained that privilege now.

Rappers performed at the KCA and stuff it was more common back cause there were more live sketch shows back then compared to now where everything is a sitcom, game show, or cartoon. But yeah this wouldn’t fly now, lyrics about cigar smoking and gun toting and an R. Kelly chorus in the background weren’t as sensitive at the time
