Teams from NASA’s Space Launch System Program and Northrop Grumman successfully fired a solid rocket booster for future #Artemis missions at Northrop Grumman’s test facility in Promontory, Utah, July 21. This small clip from the test, shows the powerful booster light up! The twin solid rocket boosters for SLS provide 75% of the thrust for Launch.

I was in high school in Huntsville Alabama when NASA was testing the F1 engines for the Saturn 5 moon rocket. We could hear and actually feel that thing from 10 miles away. Felt like a tiny earth quake.

oh that’s a huuuuge piece of concrete in the ground and the holder is reinforced in it… my grandfather was the “concrete engineer” for nasa back when things like this were built. he told me how nasa’s was anchored so he drew out what this looked like and said it weighed around 900 tons

I worked here when they were testing the solid propellant shuttle motors. Thiokol tested one during the winter and it literally melted all the snow off the mountainside!

I'm Not sure how much of an effect it actually has on our planet, but is definitely something that scientists could feasibly run some numbers on... One other area of concern that I had, is when volcanic eruptions take place, how much natural material displacement could cause the Earth 🌎🌍 to become imbalanced?

Solid fuel rockets are off or on, no throttling. Once you light it, it never stops until all fuel is gone.
