I've been having an issue with this for years and have been using Longwood and Q tips to put pressure on the area you're talking about. Only A little comes out at a time but I'm sure if I purchased a suction catheter it would do what you are doing. All this time I thought I was pushing on some sort of pressure point your point. I didn't know that area had to be dilated to let the Mucus out, Which is what I have must been doing all these years. It's instant pain relief once it starts straining but I can only get it to drain a bit at a time. thank you for this video. No no I'm not a doctor I just DIY everything

I'm not a doctor and after watching this video I plan on being my own patient. Looks easy enough to me I already do it with Q tips draining a little at a time

So, I've been having a problem swallowing/coughing up really thick, gooey phlegm for years. One, is it possible to do a suctioning procedure like this to oneself? Two, could there be some kind of health problem causing the thickness of the mucus? Edit: I should be more specific. Is it possible for a layperson to do this to themselves safely? I eat fairly healthy, drink plenty of water, and don't live a very sedentary lifestyle. To know what causes this and/or how to fix it myself would be a lifesaver. Possibly literally so.

Those of us in healthcare that aren’t physicians can not give you medical advice . I can say those that need auctioning aren’t able to blow their noses or cough up to expel mucus. Or those with tracheotomies (hole in the exterior of the throat . This wouldn’t help you in any way. Even a physician couldn’t diagnose you here without hands on assessment , testing etc. As an RN I can highly recommend you see a medical doctor about your symptoms.

do nurses usually do it this fast or do they take much longer? if its so fast like this its not as scary

I'm a retired NA with 30 years under my belt. Don't worry about how long something takes you to do...just make sure you know how to preform the task in your sleep. After repitition and experience you will be quick and efficient in your care giving. Walk then run.

@@linklindsey5658 sorry.. I'm not a nurse, I meant from the patient point of view lol. But that's great advice though to any nurses! That makes perfect sense. How often do nurses have to perform tasks like this.. do they specialize? I always wonder how nurses memorize how to do millions of things

My friend , I am suffering badly with post nasal drip - hard chucks of mucus are stuck at back of my throat .... might this help? With the guidance of an endoscope alongside???

I’m no doctor but i just underwent a septoplasty surgery this week. i am due to go see my doctor today to clear all the mucus in my nose with a suction. i also believe that a neti-pot or saline rinse is a good way to clear the passages. Hope this helps

So I had sinus surgery yesterday and their suppose to do this on me in office on 7th day when the stents (spelling?) are removed I hope they are gonna offer me a mild sedative my sinuses do not even like the stupid covid test swab . but if they dont offer it and end up gagging me ill be damn sure to throw up on her.
