Preece didn't hit anything so they gave him a chance to re-fire. And he did briefly, so it wasn't a blatantly bad decision. For all that fans complain about NASCAR forcing the drama by manufacturing overtime finishes, they play it conservative and still get crapped on. Given how poorly the drivers had been handling restarts all day an overtime finish might have wrecked half the field.

For all the people complaining about the flag being thrown. Nascar waited as long as they could in throwing the flag. It was a single car spin and they were anticipating on him moving but he didn't. They don't want another Blaney incident at the Allstar race.

They shouldn't have waited at all. If they throw it for Bell spinning before he even came to a stop, the 41 should have gotten the exact same treatment.
@smashkirkman
@smashkirkman 11 ай бұрын
Caution's aren't always thrown for safety in Nascar. They are often thrown to artificially make the race closer (same with "competition" cautions, lucky dog unlapping, and stages). Nascar wanted the flag for Bell's completely harmless spin to bunch the field and have more carnage. They did not want to ruin an exciting two car drag race to the finish. It's an attempt to manipulate the race. Not because they care who wins and want to rig it - they just want people entertained. They don't care about driver safety or the spirit of the competition AT ALL.

The races are still full, it's just broken up into segments. At the end of those segments, points are awarded to the top 10. At the road courses, the race stays under green. On ovals, the caution comes out at the end of the segment. For example- race length 160 laps. Stage 1- 40 laps - ( top 10 in running order get points) stage 2- 40 laps/lap 80 in race (Top 10 in running order recieve points) Stage 3- 80 laps/End of race- Final points awarded to all drivers.

Guess his luck ran out and he was crashed and he finished 21st where he probably was going to finish if he hadn't been lucky and didn't run out of fuel. Obviously, to be fast at Pocono the car has to be set up pretty loose! Denny won here in his first season of 2006 - he is the King of Pocono. Haters are hating in the comments, but I'm a _longtime_ fan and an experienced racer myself, and I think NASCAR is doing a good job overall. These cars race and handle better than the old ones, and they are great looking to boot. The old cars were uniquely difficult beasts to drive, so something has been lost in that way. But time marches on and NASCAR is probably healthier and stronger (than it would otherwise be) for the changes it has made.

ok, i respect your opinion. HOWEVER, it wasn't really that boring towards the end (except for hamlin and the last restart), but it was a decent race up until that point. it was the most crowded scince 2010, and that's good for the track. if we can get more races like this (except the last restart, that shouldn't have happened under any circumstances) then then pocono could become a major track in the sport again.

Boycott the entire 23XI racing team and it's sponsors; especially it's owners. MJ needs to stick to what he knows best: Basketball, sneakers and adultery.
