NASCAR Hauler Parking at Charlotte Motor Speedway Does Not Go According to Plan!

So, getting to the track AFTER all the other teams had parked was interesting, and NOT something I'm eager to do again! This time I have the best guest any hauler driver could have, and that's my little girl Zoey. Her first ride in the transporter.

I'm sure she couldn't hear a thing. It gets pretty loud in there, ESPECIALLY when accelerating

Well she had a lap seatbelt on, that's really all that is required by law for as I know bc of vehicles made before they had a shoulder belts too from the early 70's & earlier.

This is not a direct quote of the law, but as it pertains to my daughter, if the shoulder strap can't be adjusted to go over the shoulder (is on the neck) AND if they are over 8 years old, they can use the lap belt only but suggest a booster seat.

The one thing I miss about trucking is taking my daughter riding in the big truck. I'll never forget those days. I know she won't either.

I'm behind her on whatever she wants, as long as she's happy and fulfilled. She does enjoy motorsports, so I wouldn't be totally shocked to see her pursue something in the sport

Yes. That's why I pointed out she didn't have the shoulder strap on. As far as legality, it kinda lives in a gray area. Technically legal... But not what I expect, nor ideally what I want the KZfaq world to see. But, lesson learned

You're cool. Looks like she has her lap belt on. Once upon a time, before mandatory seatbelts (and shoulder harnesses or 3-point belts arrived in 1959) we only had lap belts. According to the AAA, as recently as the 1980s, only about 10% of Americans wore seat belts when riding in a car. Personally, I think they should be a personal choice (and as a parent, kids should buckle up), but I wear them. Good content, man, thanks!

I agree that it should be at ones own discretion, until someone shows me a scenario where an unbelted passenger poses any measurable risk to other people.... The video of us leaving Pocono (on my TikTok) got a comment from someone scolding me about wearing my seatbelt while backing. 🤷🤣..... I say take care of yourself. You know what's best for you.

Hands down, my favorite part of the job... It can be a challenge because I do have a job to do, and NASCAR is kind of strict with their policies that don't exactly favor minors, but very well worth the little added stress

I’m wondering how do the hauler drivers get home once you park at Charlotte? Do you catch a ride with other crew guys, or have someone come pick you up?

So... Story time 🤣. The driver of the other hauler at YMS (he's also my boss) told me before we left, he was just going to stay at the track. I said the heck with that. Why would I not go home when it's right down the road? .... Turns out, experience wins again. 🤦 He definitely had the right idea. The day we parked, the team had already gone home. So, I was able to talk one of them into coming out to the track to pick me up and take me to the shop where my car was. On the way to the shop, HIS car breaks down. We quickly diagnose, get ANOTHER ride to O'Reilly's and back, fix the car and got me to my car. By now it's 10pm on Thursday. The garage opens at 8am the next morning. Friday morning, I drove my car straight to the track... Now I have to figure out how to get my car AND the hauler back to the shop after the race. I suckered another crew member into following me to the shop while ARCA was racing.... Next year... I'll listen to the guy who's been at this quite a bit longer than I 😏

Guy makes a snippet about the seat belt, but makes no comment about the energy drink that can eventually kill her, and the cell phone that can kill her (due to bullying, harassment, self-image issues, etc).
