NASCAR is much deeper than many fans realize. Today we're diving into the 4th episode of the NASCAR Iceberg. Today we're going to be talking about the deepest stories and rumors in NASCAR. This episode does get pretty dark, as we get into tragedies surrounding drivers, liars and scams, and of course some of the wildest conspiracies around the sport. This is the fourth episode of the series explaining the NASCAR Iceberg! Once again I did not create this, all credit to kvapilnation.

On Russell Phillips: This actually killed the series (after a pointless, short track-only season in 1996) as Humpy Wheeler responded by removing his track from the series - and so other major tracks also followed suit.

also about Russell Phillips. That crash so violent that his head inside him helmet was littered in turn 4. And there was body parts stuck in the fence. The fence was basically an human cheese grader.

The video of Russell Phillips wreck is on KZfaq and you can find plenty of pictures. The poor bastard got torn in half. The roof was taken clean off. Absolute brutal wreck.

There's also a rumor that Dale Sr.'s death car is at the bottom of Lake Loyd or buried off in the turn 3 hill where Dale was killed at. To me though I think Richard Childress pretty much destroyed the car once he got it back. You would think that if you saw the pictures of inside the car after the crash imo.

The Kevin Grubb story is more tragic than any of us could imagine. Early on into the Jeremy Mayfield situation, there was a conspiracy that the Mayfield situation was done to strictly remove the Grubb tragedy from the headlines or to have people forget about it. The references to it in articles regarding Mayfield's suspension made that backfire (If that was actually NASCAR's intent). Many fans, including myself, have come to the conclusion that Kevin had actually suffered from Depression. And that along with the no less than 2 concussions that he had suffered from during his racing career, & the stunt NASCAR pulled on him in 2006 at Richmond, were the contributing factors to his tragic death.

There's also the NASCAR sneaking stuff into Brian Vickers' beverages to cause blood clots due to his wife's ties to Epstein to force retirement from the sport as he'd have to be on blood thinners. Every time he attempted a comeback, he'd perform well then clots happened again usually within a few months.

Something just struck me as while watching the Bristol footage while he talked about Hendricks. Why did the cars look so much faster on tv back then compared to now? Camera placement maybe? Something changed and not for the better.

@@3DWorldMan yeah, it is hard to make up for 150-200hp cut. But in the COT/early gen6 era, things were quickly getting out of hand with speeds rising and track records falling every other week. Allegedly it comes down to insurance, and nobody wanting to provide coverage if speeds werent reigned in under the 200 mph mark.

Cars were lower and slicker, giving a faster feel to them. Cars now look more blocky and tall, less rounded, giving a less aerodynamic feeling.

Not the most reliable source but for a while on the 2020 Nascar cup series wiki page the team was listed with the part time teams with a TBA beside the number of races entered , don't know if it's still there or not

Whats the story behind Pikes Peak International Raceway? They say France Family bought it out to build a track in the Denver area....that never happened. Now the Track sits mostly silent but many Drivers have spoken highly of the one Mile High back.

The Columbus Clippers a Triple A minor league baseball team’s old stadium remains partially torn down and is eye sore, right at the edge of downtown Columbus. About 10 years ago several big time investors (Jeff Gordon and Mike Waltrip to name a few) were going to build a short track on the grounds. About a half mile away from the stadium there is a high rise (well, high rise for Cbus) luxury condominiums that had, at the time, just been built. I’m sure that was the ultimate undoing of the project.

It's not Greenville Pickens.. it's Greenville textile speedway aka airbase speedway. Comments like that Is what made the track hard to find in the first place. People just say whatever, I only say this bc I also live in the Greenville area of SC I pass where the track used to be every other day. Greenville Pickens is literally on the other side of Greenville heading towards Easley 🥴

I highly doubt it. Normal people would send that car to the crusher, not keep the scene of a parent's death intact and hidden. Fans put more meaning and sentimental value on that car than Richard, Dale Jr, Theresa, or any other of Dale's family did. If Jr had it, we would know 100% for certain he had it. Most likely that car was crushed, recycles, buried, or dumped in lake Lloyd. Any of those ways it doesnt matter, Dale is gone and so it the car.

There was definitely something going on between Kyle & Samantha at that time You can see it in their interactions with each other , in particular I think it was that final race of that season ( if not it was in the final 2-3 Races but I’m pretty sure it was the final race) Kyle got a W or Won His 2nd Championship that season and their interaction while those roomers were going on were very different than usual , She was stand off ish You can see it They were still mending

Russel Phillips when he crashed and his car went roof first into catchfence his head popped off with his helmet still on and when the docters got to the car his body was there not his head and someone saw his helmet on pit road covered in blood grabbed it and his head fell out of it. @@notTalladegasuperspeedway Well I've unfortunatly seen both and I can't really say weither one is worse than the other. Gordon basically was turned into mush because of the impact force and some track officials said they saw gray liquid which was found to be found smeared brain fluids on the track where his head was drugged across the track. Phillips got up and went roof first into the fence and as a reaction put his hands up and well his hands got ripped off by one the caution lights and most of the top part of his body was ripped apart from the fence itself. I would say visually Phillips was worse but I'm not going to really say which would be worse since they both involved someone dying.

You sugarcoated Russell Phillips horrific death. His head was found in his helmet about 300 ft from his car, and they found his right hand in the catch. I love #3, but roof support bar is the Phillips bar to me! R.I.P. Russel Phillips!
