Been going thru a bunch of your videos today. I just got a Crucial P5 Plus 2TB and the MHQJRH, witch looks line a clone of the Eluteng. I can't anticipate any issues, but I had to note the testing while so detailed also is not great because you cant A/B test something unless you only change one variable. In testing the different heatsinks you are also using different SSD's and that just invalidates so much of the data. I would love to see a new video of "ultimate showdown" where this is kept the same.

This actually influenced my decision from purchasing a Sabrent cover heatsink to purchasing the Elecgear heatsink. At first I thought it was a gimmick that wouldn't function but cant argue with thermal data collected at the controller chip.
@HECKAKYH-ADEKBATEH
@HECKAKYH-ADEKBATEH Жыл бұрын
Both you and the channel owner do not understand heatsink effect on ssd! While ssd controller works better when cooled, the storage cells operate slower when cold and degrade faster when hot. That means - the cells and the controller should never be connected together in one sink and the chips should have either no cooler or only small cooler on top of them.
@HiltonFen

@HECKAKYH-ADEKBATEH
@HECKAKYH-ADEKBATEH Жыл бұрын
@@HiltonFen if possible cool only the controller, it will wind down on overheat. If your chips get really hot (some multimeters have temperature probe, or measure it directly after use with laser) use heatpipe to both controller and nand connected to the large sink outside, so t doesnt exceed 35 deg Celcius. Worst situation is small sink that covers both controller and chips.

I have the Warship pro on my 2tb S70 Blade. Did a thermal test of it in my PC under a giant GPU that gave it little to no passive airflow and the GPU itself outputting heat. Drive did stellar, idle at 36c and didn't go past 55c during stress test. Gaming doesn't hit the drives like stress tests and hundreds of GB file transfers back to back. Sits perfect in the PS5 bay and hits ~6200mb/s with the PS5 benchmark

I avoided getting a 980 Pro with it's own heatsink simply for the fact that it would severely limit you to what you can use it in. It's not going to fit inside a laptop or external adapter for example. The ElecGear or Sabrent heatsink cover paired with the 980 Pro (without a built-on heatsink) seemed like the way to go to future-proof the M.2 for when the PS5 is pretty much obsolete. Unless the PS6 comes with the same oversized slot without it's own heatsink, I can repurpose the 980 Pro

I have the Firecuda 530 2TB and the Elecgear EL-P5C (ordered from Amazon Japan because nowhere else available). I‘m curious because of the temperatures from the downside of the Firecuda because it’s a double sided ssd and the Elecgear just covers the upside. Can you do a little research for me with your equipment & give some feedback about how good the Elecgear performs on double sided NVMe’s and how the temperature increase or decrease at the downside. Would be great! Happy new year and greetings from Germany 🇩🇪

Same, I have the 4TB Firecuda with the Elecgear. I also ordered from Japan and we are neighbors (Netherlands) 😆 But too answer your question, there is a video on KZfaq from someone who also checked the chips underneath and they where even cooler then the double sided heatsink. This sounds logical, cause heat will always flow towards cold. Law of thermal dynamics.
@ELEX0R
@ELEX0R 2 жыл бұрын
@@dynamike549 hey Bro, that’s cool :D The Firecuda is a hell of a beast for a NVMe. That’s the point why I’m not sure about the temperatures from the downside. The Firecuda is getting really hot under stress and without any heatsink from below I’m skeptical about the durability and performance. Maybe you can link the video. Thx in advance 🤘
@dynamike549
@dynamike549 2 жыл бұрын
@@ELEX0R I fully understand bro. Those 2TB and 4TB's are expensive and we don't want them breaking of course. The video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aM6bgad7v9upoqc.html But like I said, heat will always flow towards cold by law of thermal dynamics. So let's say that underside is getting 5 or 10c degrees warmer, that heat will move towards the other side of the SSD and into the heatsink seeking equilibrium. To test this you can take an old double sided ram module (if you have that laying around of course) and put it against a shortly warmed iron. That heat from the iron will reach your hand trough that ram module.
@ELEX0R
@ELEX0R 2 жыл бұрын
@@dynamike549 thank you for the video. Before I bought the ElecGear I already believed that this heatsink will do the job fairly good for double sided NVMe‘s, but these facts and numbers will let me sleep better in future ^^ I understand your thermodynamic point. Frankly if you see this tiny and bad ventilated slot for the NVMe just with that one-fan-negative-pressure principle through those two little openings from Sony, it left you behind with some questions and it’ll let you start to crank the gearwheels in your head automatically, especially if you have such a heat producing m.2 only half covered 😄 But in the end it seems to work better then expected and that’s all I want 🍻

@momsspaghetti8093 2 жыл бұрын
You use a heatsink only when you are installing another SSD to the console. The PS5’s default SSD is already installed with the heatsink by Sony. So you only need to buy a third party heatsink only when you buy a third party SSD
