Incredible work on this library you guys! I’ve recorded with this group at Ocean Way many times, they have been my favorite orchestra to work with. You guys captured something incredible here, most real and alive sounding strings samples I’ve heard, and I own them all!

This sounds incredible. One of my favorite recording spaces, and came out at a time when I was looking for a new string library. Love the philosophy of recording performances rather than individual notes.

There's some great libraries coming out atm but I think this library may be the most natural I've heard. In other words, it doesn't sound like it's coming from a keyboard. Each note sounds as if it's being played expressively in a linear fasion. Very good. I'm grabbing it!

The man that never smiles... Thank goodness that the strings had actually a lot more emotion than the man's face. The legato and the marcatos were excellent! I agree on the Ensemble patch sounding with lots of detail as in split sections. With some tweaking this could be quite a gem of a library!

Congrats on the launch! I hope it does well! Though, I have to admit, I hope one day a developer manages to create instruments that sounds really well out of the box. In my opinion a good and well balanced (close to production ready) sound, beats a realistic but harsh / thin / boxy sound, any day. This library, like everything already out there, does seem to need a lot of work to make it sound really nice, which makes me wonder why I wouldn't just stick with the countless of libraries I already own (and have everything already set up for). With every library doing somewhat the same thing since the last decade (chasing realism and delivering it in the rawest form, rather than a fantastic overal sound out of the box that would only need a tiny bit of compression, EQ, reverb, etc ), it has become quite a saturated market and a lot of people will probably stick to their current libraries. (which is quite a shame, taken the amount of work that goes into producing these libraries).

Live string sections do not sound great without some work...I'd rather have a raw sound to shape, rather than anything that has been processed to someone else's liking.
@AndriesdeHaan
@AndriesdeHaan 3 жыл бұрын
@@jaketanner109 And that is a totally fine opinion to have! If you have the time, energy and most importantly the knowledge and equipment to make libraries sound top notch, then raw libraries might be fantastic. My point is only that most of us already have enough of those libraries and IF you have the knowledge, equipment, etc to actually make it sound really good (and do it fast), you don't actually need yet another string library that pretty much does the same thing, right? :) I think it's save to say that Alan Meyerson his final outputs are absolutely on point, so I would personally find it somewhat more refreshing and useful to have libraries that somewhat reflect his decades of experience (or other professionals who are in this line of work for decades) in a well processed and good sounding set of instruments out of the box. But hey, that's just my opinion ofcourse. After years of composing/producing and often having to work with extremely tight deadlines, I would personally prefer to have more time to focus on the actual composing/producing aspects, rather than spending countless of hours "fixing" individual instruments. :)

Sounds amazing! One thing I don't agree though is the fact that you're using third party FX through the entire thing. I understand that it's probably easier to show the library in the context of how we're going to use it but I would like, first, to hear a "out of the box" sound without external reverbs and EQ. Looking forward to add this to my arsenal soon.

If VSL never processed their sounds, no one would have bought the library. With drier libraries, it's really a must to demo it that way. I agree in principle, so I'd just demo both ways instead to avoid the problem.

I'm late, but performance sourcing samples is definitely the way to go from now on, I'm shocked so many devs still refuse to do it in 2024 when traditional orchestral sampling clearly peaked a decade ago and just sounds dead and disconnected most of the time

Loving it, however I can't help but feel each section sounds a little thin. Maybe too much lows/low mids were cut during sampling? I am used to hearing a fuller sound with my string libraries and in modern orchestral recordings. Slightly concerning for me. If this library had the body that Spitfire keeps in their samples, I would buy it in a heart beat. Maybe whatever processing you have on them in this video is thinning them out? I don't know. I am on the fence :/

As I see, there is Gullfoss on the stereo out which can be cause a thinner sound. Anyway, I really like what I hear. For me, legato and vibrato are much more sophisticated than in most String libraries.

@@BulletHolder You have NO IDEA how many takes it requires to play audio examples perfectly in a "live" walkthrough video. The ones I do often cut several hours of material down to 15 minutes. Pre-preparation in a DAW is essential for a good flow and to make sure viewers hear the best examples possible. Try it yourself sometime!
