Yes. & although long & thin, she doesn't look like a giant insect like Khorkina. I was never wild about her look.

deenibeeniable she was so damn tall. Nastia had lean legs which made her look tall but she's actually only 5'3

Yup genetics for sure, if you watch videos of her mom, rhythmic gymnast Anna Kotchneva, winning gold at the Worlds in 1987, she has the identical physique. Apple sure didn't fall far from the tree.

It's amazing how Nastia improved at the olympics from here and nationals she fell on floor at visas and had a big step out at the trials but at the olympics she was flawless and received a bronze medal for one of her weakest events amazing!!! Hope her comeback works out for her!

People really did forget how badass she can be on floor. World class work. I thought the silver was hers in Beijing.

The details are just so beautiful in this routine. Working in the stare right at the beginning when it has nothing to do with actual gymnastics is genius. I think my favorite dance move here is 0:43, the way her body curved is just so beautiful. Also, this is a gorgeous color on her. NL is seriously a work of art.

before....gymnastics was about dancing...beautiful dance movements while doing tumbling....but now its all about flips..nastia brought back the old gymnastics but her gymnastics was still modern.....now ally's is more about the tumbling than artistry

How does Aly Raisman not have artistry? She has a lot of choreography that mixes well with the music because it is traditional Israel folk dance moves. Just because she doesn't pose like Nastia or move like aballerina doesn't mean she isn't artistic. Artistry is all subjective
@alejandramoreno56155 жыл бұрын
Raisman don't have artistry xD her execution is so hideous
@eurekamreum54583 жыл бұрын
To be fair, 2012 Aly was really lacking in the artistry department, she got a lot more musical as the years went on. Her 2016 Olympic AA FX was probably the best in terms of choreography.
@tinajane31402 жыл бұрын
@@eurekamreum5458 I actually far prefered her 2012 routine in artisty and choreography than 2016. I found it very ethnic and suited her heritage, and you can tell she was really passionate about performing it.

@mht49083 жыл бұрын
Wow, domestic scoring really does over score their gymnasts. Nastia did a near perfect routine during the events finals in Beijing and scored a 15.425, whereas in here she had quite a stumble during her 3rd pass yet had a higher score? Before y’all come at me, this comment was not made to criticize Nastia, but for the scoring system in the US. Other than the overscoring, they also credit connections/skills that would not be credited in international competitions, I wish they had scored them more similarly to the international scoring so they didn’t give their gymnasts false hope

About her being "tall," it's really funny if you watch the movie stick it and compare her to the actors. She's on the tall side for a gymnast and she looks so short next to all the actors!
@mht49083 жыл бұрын
I’m 9 years late, but the movie was filmed before her growth spurt. I believe she was 140 something when Stick it was filmed and then she grew all the way to 5’2 and eventually 5’3. But yeah, it’s still short compared to the cast members

if anyone even thinks about thinking about or has the nerve to post something that say nastia lukin is doing easy moves or easier moves that is . Nastia lukin is one of the most talented people in the world and id like to see you do a double front flip AND she puts the most effort in as any other gymnast even more !! she does a crap load of diffucult moves the only a few people can do so leave her alone
@theMstanglover11 жыл бұрын
There's nothing compelling about Aly's and Wiebers FX until they start tumbling. There're like guitar shredders. They depend all on difficulty. Without the difficult there would be nothing very significant to their routines,

Aly has a tumbling pass that was once considered impossible. Though I do love the more artistic gymnasts, in nearly every other sport, its about who does the hardest things the best. People like Aly and Simone do this that were once inconceivable and blew everyone away. While I love Nastia, she doesn’t have there power just like they lack her artistry.

if you're talking about difficulty, yes this lacks in the usual round-off, back handspring, and then double twist or something. However Liukin has beautiful artistry, probably the best US ever had, so boring is out of the question. And we all probably agree that Raisman won on floor because she had as much difficulty packed up and zero artistry whatsoever. Liukin is wonderful in ways that make sense.

What I prize on a gymnast besides grace, power, elegance etc. is long legs, cause I have long legs and it makes up much of my height, I have a medium/long torso s itdoesn't add my much to my height. I am 5"5 and still goring ^_^

I think what that person means is that she looses her balance a lot, I'm not being mean-although I like shawn better- But I agree, shes trying to work herslef to hard and then she gets all thinking I have to do this perfect and alll that and I believe that that makes her loose her balance :(
