After watching this video, witnessing the mud, rough terrain, wind, endless miles of toil, grit and sheer determination , I have been totally inspired to stay in the house with a coffee and watch some other madman do it instead!

Glad I missed it that year - and you missed the worst of the mud on Huffmaster road! I did it the year before when they held it in May, and very dry conditions. Will do it tomorrow (Feb 24, 2024) and conditions are damp but not muddy. And it will be 70 deg!

Sloppy! Good on you to spec the 47s. I raced the course twice on the 38s with my Diverge, and can't imagine having any uphill traction with smaller tires.

Cool video and good job even with cutting it short. However, I can with 100% certainty let you know that the Huffmaster climb was worse than everything you rode for sure. You would not believe how thick and sticky that clay mud was. (I did the short course) Agreed that the solo riding can be very tough and I can relate to fast people blowing by looking just like that!

Dang, sounds tough! Did folks walk that or was it still rideable?

@@LoganInTheWilderness Everyone had to walk and push and carry their bikes. It was crazy. Your bike made similar sounds to mine and everyone else's.

I enjoy cycling but that is something I could never do, and all that mud.

If you drop your glasses you leave them and tell the sponsor you need a new pair, no, 6 new pairs.

How did your gopro last so long? Or did you start and stop it after a minute? haha... Wait a second you were in flat pedals? Get some clipless ones for climbing!

This was all on just one GoPro battery! Would hit record to turn it on, record for 6-20s, hit record to turn it off. Got it recently and have been impressed with it. And I prefer flat pedals :) 1. casual riding in the city is easier 2. hike-a-biking while bikepacking is more pleasant 3. like being able to adjust foot position while riding to avoid repetitive stress on knee 4. research shows the difference for most people is negligible (unless you're sprinting): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gbt1lLFqq7GrfHk.html Apparently flats are my passion...

This road, was muddy weeks ago. It cant have been a surprise? Snow made it worse but its been soaked for weeks and weeks.

Interesting! Had never been on any of the roads before, so everything about the ride was a surprise. :)

😂 you called it! I was ok temp-wise most of the ride until that descent... right after a sweaty climb, too.
