Steve Rogers/Captain America and Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow at Sam Wilson's (Falcon) Home Scene - Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) Movie CLIP HD [1080p]
Natasha Romanoff : When I first joined S.H.I.E.L.D., I thought it was going straight. But I guess I just traded in the KGB for HYDRA. I thought I knew whose lies I was telling, but... I guess I can't tell the difference anymore.
Steve Rogers : There's a chance you might be in the wrong business.
Natasha Romanoff : I owe you.
Steve Rogers : It's okay.
Natasha Romanoff : If it was the other way around, and it was down to me to save your life, now, you be honest with me, would you trust me to do it?
Steve Rogers : I would now. And I'm always honest.
Natasha Romanoff : Well, you seem pretty chipper for someone who just found out they died for nothing.
Steve Rogers : Well, I guess I just like to know who I'm fighting.

I think CATWS is the best performance of Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow we got to see. Quick thinking in the mall to avert attention, the way she fights WS on the street- using the voice recording, trying to choke him with the wire, EMP’ing the arm. We see her range from sarcastic and flirtatious to terrified when she gets shot, even confused and surprised at times. Wish the BW film had this type of tone.

They did such a good job with portraying the canonical versions of these characters. Of course Natasha doesn't fight against Steve trying to peer into her life, like she's had to "fight" with so many other people to remain enigmatic. Being an enigma to everyone you meet is a lonely life, and she can tell that Rogers is completely pure in his intentions when he asks her to explain herself. A lot of people have asked her to explain herself, Rogers is one of the only people that genuinely cares about _her._ He doesn't just talk the talk, he walks the hard walk and he asks for nothing in return, and it's always on display in every choice he makes. So when he asks, she has no defense to give him because there's no reason to be defensive with someone like Steve Rogers.

@@MargoB It's very difficult, but you can definitely be that person. You just have to take it day by day, one choice at a time. When you think about choices you _could_ make, stop for a moment and consider who you're inspiring, positively or negatively. Just stopping to think, in and of itself, is half the battle. And I believe in you, because I thought it was impossible until heroic archetypes like Captain America showed me it was possible. It's a fictional character, but the way he lives is very real and very achievable. We don't have the super serum, but even Steve Rogers would say "it's not the serum that makes me strong". It's who he chose to be before he got it. That didn't require powers.

This was definately the best Captain America movie. Sure, the first one is very important for his backstory but this one is just so great. It shows perfectly how Steve has integrated into 21st century life and how he works against modern world foes. Also, Black Widow looks the best in this movie, without a doubt. She is also deepened so much by this movie and a lot more about her past is revealed. And her humor, energy and acting is just unbeatable.

What a big moment for both Steve and Natasha. She's not sure of much of anything in this moment and finally lets her walls down for a moment, letting Steve in when she's otherwise directionless. That's the moment you know Steve has her trust and loyalty, and they get closer as the movies go on. That look on her face when he says outright that he'd trust her with his life...he's probably the first person since Clint to say something like that. Platonic or romantic, it really doesn't matter. There's an unmatched closeness between these two moving forward that gives them so much growth

I think it was a bit more complex than saving him in return, though that surely was a big part of it. By that point, they're really close and rely on each other a lot. More than anything, that moment is Nat choosing her loyalty to and trust in Steve over the mission. So much of her life has been all about the mission, so it really shows what Steve means to her when she makes that choice, and it's a great moment showing serious character growth too

When asked why Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, or any of the other Avengers weren't called to help Captain America or Black Widow in the film, the screenwriters explained that the movie only takes place in about three days, therefore the characters didn't have a chance to contact them.

On one hand, I love that Steve is in the future and he befriends an agent, has banter with her and, unlike most movies, actually has a solid relationship between a man and a woman. But this is one of those instances where by not forcing them together, they actually have more chemistry. Far more than Banner and Natasha. So I’m split because the dynamic works either way.
