Nate Kern's BST Equipped BMW R9T Race Weekend Debut

BMW Brand Ambassador, Nate Kern, is certainly known for his road racing accolades, but they are generally associated with purpose built race bikes bred for winning. So entering a BMW R nineT into a road race was certainly not something most racers would entertain. However, Kern made history at the opening round of the AHRMA Roadrace Series at Roebling Road Raceway in Georgia, officially making it the first sanctioned race for a BMW R nineT in the world. This BMW "Café Bike" with the talented Kern at the helm not only performed well, but they also took home two podium finishes. Let Nate take you through the historic race weekend and how he took off the shelf components, like our BST Carbon Fiber Wheels, to make the BMW R nineT competitive.

Nate, great meeting you at BMW event last summer at Virginia International Raceway. To see you blasting around the course faster than the rest of us on S1000RR's was amazing. You have that R9T set up! (Chris, friend of Art D.)

Mutual dude! The R(t is now 1.4 seconds faster with the chassis setup and tuning!

Love what you've done with the bikes! What clip on bars did you use?

The clip ons were Rizoma at the time. We are trying different ones from the S 1000 RR since they are the same forks. Playing with different leverage points and adjusting for each track. More or less leverage depending on the track.

They look like a blast to ride! I have a R1100S, and a R1200RT. The R1200RT with no luggage is a super fun bike. The weight of the R nineT with the 1200cc boxer has got to be a blast. I'd like to ride one some time to see the difference in handling of a boxer without telelever front suspension. Thanks for the great videos!

Tell Lean thank you man for liking our seat cover. It was ordered through Motovation USA out of Austin, Texas. Ask for Roland! Theres a few different shades of brown and the seat covers are for your stock seat.

he seat you see on the left is actually the stock seat covered in a really nice brown seat cover you can order from Roland at Motovation USA in Austin, Texas

Thank you. Really awesome looking bikes! One dealer only a few blocks from my house closed down as I was literally walking through the front door lol Met the owner but he didn't have one in stock.
