Күн бұрынMiss Universe 2018 Reaction: My yearly reaction of Miss Universe has turned into a little tradition here on my channel, Miss Universe has been a huge part in my life since a little girl it's basically our "superbowl" in my family. I've also competed in pageants before which is why I have a deeper obsession/connection with it. I hope you guys enjoy this years reaction!
Disclaimer: YES there's ALOT of spanish in this video... hope you dont mind. Also like I mentioned in the video, everyone has the right to have their own opinion, because I like or root for a specific country and may not like another doesn't mean anything.

Undeniably when Miss Philippines answered that last question, she literally slammed the door. Even if you're rooting for your own country, you can't do anything than to give Miss Philippines the crown. The 3 ladies are equally beautiful. But that last question will definitely determine the winner.

Catriona in my opinion is the most dedicated candidate PH ever had by far. Everything she did in this pageant is just amazing. From that National Costume which she literally embody the whole PH by wearing something coming from the 3 major island of PH. The gown she wore on the evening gown competition was inspired by "Ibong Adarna" which is a Fiction of a Magical Bird. The Red gown or shall I say the Lava gown was inspired by the literal lava of the Mayon Volcano which is located in her hometown Albay, the ear-cuff she wore along with the gown is 3 stars and the sun which you can find in the PH flag and also designed by her. She deserved this crown, she was born for it. Mabuhay, Philippines!

Fun fact: Catriona Gray's red magma gown is inspired by the iconic Mayon Volcano located in Albay, Bicol Region in the Philippines. She worked closely with the designers in terms of the jewelry and dress designs. She's an artist herself, thus she used her creativity to carry the Philippines in every single aspect of the competition. Her earcuff symbolizes the "Three stars and a Sun" in the Philippine flag. That's actually her own idea and a jewelry designer in the Philippines helped her realize it.

Yes been waiting for your reactions!!! My top favorites was Vietnam and Philippines. I just loved Vietnam hair cut and the way Philippines Carried herself was so much poise. I believe that question where Philippines talked about the kids in her country made her win even more. The way she answered that question brought me to tears.

Catriona even before joining beauty pageants 3yrs ago had already been very HANDS-ON the non-profit organization called Young Focus International which aims to improve the mental, physical, and social well-being of young people in poor communities by means of education, health care, and personal support. That's why her answer is sooo easy for her it's genuine, straight from her heart & based on her true experience.

All of the top 5 and top 3 are all EQUALLY BEAUTIFUL...But the last question determines the winner. Philippines just nailed it so the judges got no choice than to give her the crown

South Africa is gorgeous and well-poised, too, but yeah, Venezuela answered better. I guess it's because South Africa is the crowd's favorite alongside Philippines and Puerto Rico. They had established themselves early, so I guess the judges had conditioned their minds that South Africa is more Ms Universe worthy. I could be wrong though.@ijakes

I bet you're saying that cuz you're Filipino. Yes, Cat was a crowd's favorite, but so were South Africa and Puerto Rico. The edge of Cat is that Filipinos are pageant-crazy; hence, louder online, but if you had checked the betting sites, they have all those three as favorites. Same thing if you checked the Miss U predictions of non-Filipinos. @ijakes

*I don't think you know that Ms Philippines' mom dreamed(when she was just 13 years old) that she would win Ms Universe in a Red Dress. Plus, she is from a place in Philippines where it has a volcano, hence the lava red dress as well. Go ook at the 5 finalist pics, and considering Chinese fengshui rules, where she stood in the middle of the 4 other girls that all wore silver. Basically, fire destroys metal. So, this is all God's work shown to her mom, created from earth, girl on fire...as Ms Universe from the stars*

There were several other Filipino couturiers dressing up other candidates as well. There was Ecuador, Nicaragua, Cambodia, Nepal, Japan and a host of others. Likewise, a Filipino mentor/trainers were also serving many bets, such as Nepal and Vietnam as examples. Truly this MU2018 and with the win of Catriona was a benchmark for Philippine participation and merits.

Vietnam people are very happy because thar is the highest placing they ever had in M.U. She attended workshop in the Philippines. Catriona's being so spontaneous, confident and being true to her answer and that is who she is, she rocked the boat and comquer all caregories as well

I mean her mind is so strong that her answer is always on point. And at the same time you can feel that shes speaking from the heart. Her passion is burning. Latino: Someone that comes from Latin America Hispanic: Someone that comes from A Spanish Speaking country. Spanish it’s not the official language of The Philippines, Even though I know that they were colonized by Spain some people speak broke Spanish and they’re use some Spanish words and Spanish names. But Philippinos are not Latinos so simple. Stop saying philipinos are Latins .

@@melvinosielmaldonado4965 Filipinos are surely not Latinos (I don't care) but the country is definitely Hispanic. FYI, Hispanic applies to all former Spanish colonies whether or not they still speak Spanish today because it's all about cultural affinity with Spain and not just about language. Philippine culture is heavily influenced from Spanish especially when it comes to its customs, traditions, arts, literature, food, religion, etc. not to mention how many Filipinos have mixed Spanish and Mexican ancestry as a result of its 300 years of Spanish colonization under Mexico and that alone automatically qualifies you as Hispanic.

Catriona even before joining beauty pageants 3yrs ago had already been very HANDS-ON the non-profit organization called Young Focus International which aims to improve the mental, physical, and social well-being of young people in poor communities by means of education, health care, and personal support. That's why her answer is sooo easy for her it's genuine, straight from her heart & based on her true experience.

Miss Philippines put a lot of effort and heart on this journey. She’s prepared and very hands-on, involved on national costumes to gowns to her everyday dress for this this competition. Not to forget her WALK and intelligence. She deserved it 💯. Confidently beautiful with a heart.

Philippines fun fact: The red gown was inspired by lava. From an active volcano in her hometown in the Philippines. The preliminary bird feathers gown was inspired by Ibong Adarna a mythical rainbow bird creature that turns people into stone from the sound of its chirping songs. The ear clip on her ears represent the Philippine flag. The sun rays and the 3 stars. The 4 Miss Universe from the Philippines all wore the colors of the Philippine flag. Gloria Diaz (yellow gown), Margie Moran (white gown), Pia Wurtzback (blue gown) and Catriona Gray (red gown).

Yes guys..she did the extra mile in her every performance,,but what won her that crown was her sincere advocacy for impoverished children,she knows she could do more for them if she wins the crown...she actually gave her apartment building for her charity in the slums of manila 2 years ago and is constantly visiting the children even when she lost in miss world bec she was robbed with the crown ..so she won because of her heart before anything else,,and losing more ss world was a blessing in disguise❤

Been watching all reaction videos for Miss Universe 2018, but i led my way back in this video after 8 days. This is so far my most favorite reaction video. Very authentic, and i loved how each of you have different favorites, but atleast ended up convinced that Miss Philippines deserved the crown!

For the first time a Filipino miss universe contestant wore Filipino made clothes all through the competition (because foreign made clothes are usually worn by past miss u contestants), which is one of the reasons why Catriona is the most well loved and respected here in the philippines.

Canada didn’t make it because she lied about pursuing engineering as mentioned by Miss Universe Canada 2017, Siera Bearchell, in one of her videos from her youtube channel. She said she didnt support her because she was actually doing something else less of engineering like a dental assistant compared to a being a dentist.

In her intro, it was mentioned biomedical engineering and technology. Her program is Biomedical Engineering Technology, a program where it bridges straight to a bachelors degree biomedical engineering. It was mentioned she had a 3.96 gpa which means she can likely bridge easily to the degree which she probably plans on doing.

You are such a JOY to watch, Nathalie! You and your companions too. While I rooted for Catriona, I LOOOVE Vietnam. Just so disarming and likeability factor is thru the roof. The more I go back to these videos, the more I love South Africa. I can see all the more how down to earth, genuinely gracious and grounded she is, a REAL beauty queen. Btw, since I don't know how to speak Spanish, how close were the translations for Venezuela? I am wondering the same question for Vietnam. And I have a hunch that both of them answered FAR BETTER than their English translations.

Jon Morlow yes!!! Miss Vietnam gave such a warm, wholesome answer for the #MeToo question. Unfortunately, the translator didn’t deliver. But what gets me is how Miss Vietnam said to stop blaming the translator, that without her, she wouldn’t have been made it to top 10. And that warms my heart greatly. Miss Vietnam is so ❤️❤️❤️

Congrats to Philippines! I wanted Canada too to be in the Top 5. Vietnam could’ve been in the Top 3 if only her answer was translated well, but lacking in translation. The depth of her answer got lost. Philippines was #1 in all rounds of scoring. Vietnam actually placed 2nd after Top 10 round (Swimsuit + Evening Gown).

Venezuela was my absolute favorite...But I am very happy that Philippines won, she deserved it...I still just don't understand why Venezuela was 2nd Runner-Up, I thought she answered very very well, and deserved to be 1st Runner-Up...But I mean, I also loved South Africa, she was so stunning!
