Its a lame and mundane gift. And he does it on a talk show. Very nathan. Thats the best i can do to help.
@thomascrownbuerger
@thomascrownbuerger 8 жыл бұрын
+Bert-Jan Weening The first thing that came to mind was a recent clip I saw of him on Jimmy Fallon. He gives Jimmy Fallon a gift, wrapped in a white envelope, for having him on the show. Fallon opens it and it's two $20 bills. I think the joke is a mix of a bad gift (gift cards and cash) and completely inappropriate for the situation (entertainers make so much money that the proper thing to get them, like a family member, would be something meaningful). Sorry for being three months late.
@aaronloewen8718
@aaronloewen8718 8 жыл бұрын
+Bert-Jan Weening I think it's because giving a gift on a talk show is very rare, so you'd think that there would be some sentimental value to the gift. But the the gift itself is the least sentimental thing possible. Also, yeah, the fact that Andy is an extremely wealthy entertainer renders the gift pointless anyway. So there's a lot of contradictions going on that make it funny.

Nathan has an incredible capacity for filling a room with awkwardness and ill timing. But, like Norm, he not only seems to enjoy it, but there's a rhythm to his seemingly bumbling demeanor 😂
@uniquename6925
@uniquename6925 Жыл бұрын
I think you can even see him pulling the two hosts into his rhythm. At the beginning, they are laughing at every little thing, which makes it harder to setup for a punchline. So nathan pulls out a gift card and instantly makes them both awkward so that he can control the pace again. They get off put by the sudden weird behavior so that he can setup for the punchline of "he makes more than you" and it hits like a truck.

I love that you analyze stuff cause I do the same thing! I have often thought the same about Nathan. He’s always very thoughtful and considerate when dealing with people you should look up the transcribed version of a phone call he did with this dudes mom (it was some woman who, I get from the phone call context, trashed his show a bit a guess on a podcast she did) the main thing that they were talking about was she has a very different personality type than him and she didn’t understand him and so it sorta forces him to break character and be open a bit more than normal and you can see how he deals with situations and what sorta runs through his head a bit and yes from what I’ve seen I agree with you. He seems like a kind person cause yeah that’s where the Andy stuff was coming from. I mean he played with it a bit to make it a little funny-mean but like when he taps andy’s hand afterwards and all that, it was like a funny way of including him cause he probably felt weird being in the middle and the only one being talked to even tho he was the guest of the show. He seems a little insecure but kind and comfortable too. He’s also done something similar on another clip I saw of him where he was on this show with sorta the same set up. He was talking to the second guy a bit and making it a point to establish that inclusion.

I still don't know which size is large. Vente? I can't remember their stupid names. And if you say large, they correct you.

Tall is small, Grande is medium, Venti is large, Trenta is extra large. I don't know the correct drinks term for extra small....

Frogchickk what are we talking about here? like a greek starbucks or something?

That's not Greek Starbucks. It's literally how they name their drink sizes. So cheesy to use Italian words like that...

Americansikkunt If they're going to get $3-$5 out of your for a cup of coffee, you should expect a certain amount of nonsense. A latte is just coffee with milk. If you order a latte, they charge you more. Or you can order black coffee and put in your own milk at the little table with the sweet and lows. Coffee used to be cheap, like real cheap. Twenty-five cents. They're geniuses to trick us so completely. It's like KFC convincing us that we want to buy a box of chicken wings when getting a chicken wing in a bucket was enough to make you go back and complain.
