Every time I see this it makes me cry! The best vocalist of time era! He interprets a song like no other. He is only 24 years old and sings like he has been doing this for 30 years. The emotion he shows is well beyond his years and personal experience. He is always pitch perfect. He also is a featured vocalist with the Trans Siberian Orchestra (West), which is an arena touring group. Mr James is exquisite!!!!!

That was STUNNING!! Absolutely amazing, got me in tears now! This is exactly why you should've won Superstar!
@AlligatorWood8 жыл бұрын
I'm so busy watching him act and listening to him showing off his voice (which is incredible) that I'm not listening to the words of the song or hearing genuine emotion. Presumably that's why he never got the part in Superstar.

There hasn't been a singer of Nathan's caliber for sometime. I am completely and utterly in awe of every note he sings. He puts every ounce of himself into every performance, sometimes in spite of the lack of support he may have faced. I hope that i can see him in person before I leave this world.

Absolutely LOVED this!! So happy to find you have a version of Gethsemane up. God, you should have won that show and I would have absolutely loved to have seen you as Jesus!! Wishing you the best of luck for your future because you deserve a wonderful career. xxxx

Nathan......this was absolutely phenomenal! I love Jesus Christ superstar and this is one of my favorite songs from that show. I love when you do show tunes than acoustically done rock songs. You should put out an album of Broadway show tunes.

Hi James. I am a huge fan of JCS. For me, Ian Gilan's version was the best. But that was until I viewed your version. You rock, man! Your version is the best ever!

Wow, wow, wow. I saw the the Superstar tour in Nottingham, and Ben didn't come within a mile of this vocal standard. And if Nathan can get this emotional intensity in street clothes, well, I just hope he gets to star in a full production sometime.

WOW, If I would re-cast the actors of the 2000 version of JCS I would have cast this guy, he is Ted Neeley personified, what power and emotion this man gives this song

Disagree with the comments about Ben he's got a great voice but it doesn't have the rock depth and range that Nathan's has
@LosOnAir10 жыл бұрын
love that he used the Drew Sarich interpretation of this song, his Falsetto isnt as powerfull as his mixed voice but still crazy good \m/ so far this is my #2 out of all the other performers of this song, Drew is numero uno.

Then that suggests that you don't believe praising Nathan's talent is enough on its own. Shame.
@paultully608610 жыл бұрын
ben forster's rendition was on TV today and it was a virtuoso performance, and especially the last section which vocally was moving and accomplished and easily transcended this version here by Nathan James, which whilst energetic really doesn't capture the fragility of the JC character - and his last note is actually flat! he's a good rock singer though, but sorry couldn't act the role and ALW was quite right in his final decision.
@ouzoqueen10 жыл бұрын
Sigh! Nathan is on tour at the moment with one of THE world's best groups - he probably hasn't given it a second thought. Bigger and better things to come. I am sure the guy who won it is a fab singer and actor - erm what's his name again???
@oldsk0ol10 жыл бұрын

@B00kc4t911 жыл бұрын
Wow. Nathan's great, but I have to say that Ben is a far better. I watched Ben's Superstar the whole way through at least twelve and it moved me so much I was in tears at the end every time. Everything else since then seems quite tame. Watch Ben's and see what you think.
@takerhapsody11 жыл бұрын
My theory on why Nathan didn't win was he was to good and would have over shadowed the vocal ability of the "well established stars" already chosen to donut. I love Tim minchin but he doesn't hold a candle to Nathan. I didn't go cause he didn't win. I sold my ticket as I bought one before the end of the show had chosen a Jesus
@takerhapsody7 жыл бұрын
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this . Sold my ticket as well once Nathan was out. Gone on to bigger and better things. Had the pleasure of meeting him and he is lovely and humble.

He built up to the G5 but was unable to deliver it with the power you would expect after so much build up. It was anticlimactic.
@seangriffin59678 жыл бұрын
Listen to Drew Sarich sing it if you haven't. He does the same build up, but pulls off the G5 much better imo. In fact, this is basically Drew's take, seems that Nathan got this from him.
@Swansong5511 жыл бұрын
No doubt he is a great vocalist, but the melody of this song as written needs very little changing up. I would have preferred that he stayed closer to the melody with a little improvisation.
@TheMsiaddict8 жыл бұрын
He is still quite cocky here. He didn't win JCS because you know his body, JCS team would need some times for him to be fit and lose some weight. Rory didn't win because he was short. Ben was in the middle of all and he got the theatre education basic. Vocally Nathan was the best, though. But not with Jesus role, I think he will be good playing Judas.
@toad333328 жыл бұрын
+TheMsiaddict he didn't win because of his arrogance and back and forth with ALW. I personally think he should have won

@mitchellaitcheson797610 жыл бұрын
Sounds like he took a lot from Drew Sarich's performance of Gethsemane. Although Drew does it WAY better.
@MarcoGitto10 жыл бұрын
Even Drew took some of the aspects of his performance from Billy Porter. They respectively played Judas and Jesus in the 1998 Nyack performance of JCS and if you see, the later performance of Drew of Gethsemane is a revised version of the Billy's :)
@maxymillion2311 жыл бұрын
i'm happy he wasn't picked to be Jesus after all because he kind of ruined this song just now... i didn't know how to feel because he was all over the place.. it was like he was more interested in his technique, rather than the emotion and meaning of the song :(
@alexanderpinto53911 жыл бұрын
Still Ted Neeley, I only can compare Ted Neeley with Ian Gillan (Deep Purple), the rest of singers are good, but not like Ted or Gillan.

honestly my friend is like look at yhis band i really like them it is called" inglorious"ok i listen its musically ok but the singer has a great bruce Dickenson like voice, then i watch another and a third and im like this guy is way too concerned with his hair,and as i writei can hear the huge lack of passion for this song that ted brings to it,and i cant help that.. anyway he is all over the place form this to bon jovie to a choir boy song now im supposed to buy hes a heavy metal rocker .i dont,its a shame but i see through and he is not genuine.. he wants to be big sure, but he has nothing to say..imo..

You got screwed, dude. That poser Ben is neither a rock singer nor a good actor. You managed to pull off a great acting performance, and your vocals are killer.
@christinechase652910 жыл бұрын
Nathan James was far too stagey. Ben Forster was far more believable in the part. He got a standing ovation at the 02 when I saw him, and well deserved it!
@enterthedome11 жыл бұрын
God, you must be easily impressed. It's hard to decide whether he's a worse singer or a worse actor, but I can easily say, he's bad.
