Lyrics:
For a moment I could wait to see it fall apart
Every empty bed in every city I’ve been
I sit and contemplate all the moments you said
Time stands in a duel and I stand for you
What’s that you used to say
Find a love that you can wait for
Or do you feast upon the weak and weary of heart
I can take the pain but I can’t take all the hatred
Laziness of mind and simplest of thoughts
Are you just too old or too young to carry
Time stands in a duel and I stand for you
Now you’re pouring out your hate at every difference you found
You won’t even listen to reason at all
Not questioning your faith, far be it from me
But you would speak of love while tying ones hands
Are you just too old or too young to carry
Time stands in a duel and I stand for you
Are you just too old or too young to carry
Time stands in a duel and I stand for you
Now lean and use your weight
That’s what a shoulder’s made for
Carry all the dead and children from here
Curses on the men and the greed that seems to plague them
I can’t raise my hand so I’m raising my voice
Are you just too old or too young to carry
Time stands in a duel and I stand for you
Are you just too old or too young to carry
Time stands in a duel and I stand for you
Are you just too old or too young to carry
Time stands in a duel and I stand for you
Time stands in a duel and I stand for you
Time stands in a duel and I stand for you

He among a small handful of others, saved our generation from being nothing more than just pathetic creatively as far as music goes. You can’t just take other peoples genius remix it put a dance track in the background and call it yours! Mumford & Sons with soul and that raspy blues that is him, restores a little faith! Lol before anybody bites my head off, if I’m part of the generation, I can talk shit about it! lmao We’re unfortunately for me definitely no 70’s but thank God there are artists like him or we’d be remembered in history for Night at the Roxbury… Lmfao

Another beautiful tune from Nathaniel. This would fit right in on Cat Stevens' Greatest Hits. Dude is fast becoming one of the finest singer/songwriters of his generation. Been a big fan since the first Night Sweats album but always preferred the stripped down stuff (Wasting Time, Babe I Know, Hey Mama, etc.), so this solo album is just phenomenal to me.

I love you Misha. You are pure beauty. Your voice is so soothing. The lyrics you choose Glorify our God. I feel the depth of the meaning as you express them. I love your expressions and have seen them in your son at a young age in the video of We are One Big Family with Joshua Aaron. That too was so well put together. I have felt discouraged lately, this song popped up in my feed at just the right timing. Praise the Lord for you, your family and the family of Our God.

Having seen Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweets in Louisville, KY a few years back Nathaniel attempted to speak out about the children caught up in school shootings that are affecting our nation, but stumbled over his words and moved on to the next song. When I hear this song think to what he was trying to say. When I hear this song I hear a man of deep emotion feeling helpless he can't stop what needs to end. I hear a man confused why more isn't being done by all of us who share the pain against madness but do nothing. I hear a man torn inside that all he can do is raise his voice. A very powerful song and a testament to the love that resides in Nathaniel's mind and soul. The song is beautiful because it's true. The song is true because it's beautiful. Godspeed Nathaniel.

It feels as if he's addressing humanity's inability to put away violence and racism while willing to hold space for the emotionally battered remaining. That high upward synthesized note beginning the chorus hails an ancient sentiment. 🙏

Your music hits my heart where it needs it. And after the day I have had, I swam in your voice. I took my brother for treatment today, for drinking. In the end, I see the Lorax. Surely, that's on me.

This is my best loved song from the new album. I understand that the lyrics are about a different kind of loss, however the video talks loneliness powerfully yet poetically. Bravo

Imagine yourself on top of a mountain standing there watching the sunset as it slowly goes down and feeling the breeze of the wind as it gently drifts around your skin And then you close your eyes and take a deep breathe And tell yourself things will be all right And someday you’ll make it Never lose faith Keep on vibe’n
