Ok I know this is old, but having the moon coins should not be something to get triggered about. As you may or may not know, you can use the star coins to buy things. So if they kept with star coins, they'd have to add even more mushroom/1-up houses, and bonus levels. I think all of the existing worlds are packed as is, and the simplicity of star world is a great feature. But also, if they didn't have the extra paths, you would just end up with a bunch of extra coins at the end. It also provides a fifth star, which is kinda meh, but still. Also, it foreshadowed moons in super mario odyssey

In my opinion this game was quite lackluster and not that great, however I will admit that getting a bunch of coins is so satisfying!

Also, in order to make a good Koopalings battle, put them at first in a 3D Mario game, give them new powers and attacks, give them a scenery like from Color Splash where every Koopaling has special abilities and uses the area to their advantage. For example, Lemmy sould use circus attractions like balls, cannons, flaming rings, etc. For Iggy, he can be in a steampunk area and uses red magic(which spawns lava and lava monsters, green magic(standard magic), purple magic(poison), and as a special, he can use his magic to turn spare parts and other broken machines to working robots that will try to attack Mario and the area is surrounded by poisonus lava. Morton can be in some ancient ruins and uses the treasuse and cursed treasure and artifacts and pillars to attack. Traps can be spanned like spikes and pits. Roy can be in a dance club. Wendy is in an ice rink. Sadly, I don't know what should be for Larry. Maybe another train like in color splash. Then, for my final example, Ludwig can be in a sky castle with a military air force and uses his magic to spawn weather changes like lightning, rainstorms, snow/hail, and smoke.
