@@nftmonkey3027I hate the current one most. Even "Deutschösterreich du herrliches Land" was better. "Sei gesegnet ohne Ende" is the perfect compromise between modern and traditional, between republic and monarchy. In that sense it was the most fitting for its time. But the current one is just shit, especially since they gendered the anthem. It's boring, not creative, has no notable music, and they even shortened it to not include any patriotic elements.

I don't think this authoritarian regime can be called fascism. One of the regime's politicians, Starhemberg, was indeed a fascist (although he fought for the Allies in World War II after Anschluss), and Dollfuss was partly a fascist, but not as much as Mussolini. However, Kurt Schuschnigg was not a fascist (his policy was not fascist, he also says this in his memoirs). Yes, after the war he justified his actions, but he, unlike Dollfuss, I think, cannot be called a fascist.

@@gyhden9299 Schuschnigg himself was actually a monarchist. He wanted to restore the Habsburg monarchy, but he was not allowed to by the former Entente powers. Hitler even made plans to invade Austria if they restored the monarchy, codenamed "Sonderfall Otto".
