The University was established under Mohi-ud-Din Islamic University Nerian Sharif Act, 1999, passed by the Legislative Assembly of Azad Jammu & Kashmir. The main objective underlying the establishment of the University is to produce graduates equipped with modern knowledge in combination with the basic religious education to enable them meet the challenges of the new millennium. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has affirmed the equivalence of the degrees, diplomas and certificates awarded by the University with the corresponding degrees, diplomas and certificates of other universities in Pakistan. The main campus of the University is located at a beautiful hill station with its majestic multi-storied buildings at Nerian Sharif (Tararkhal), Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The main campus spreads over 10 acres of land and is situated at about 6,000 feet above sea level. It has enchanting surroundings with spell binding and fascinating natural environment. Nerian Sharif is situated to the North East of Islamabad at a distance of 125km. Unlike other universities in public and private sectors, the MIU has adopted a unique system of examination giving due weightage to internal and external evaluation. This has been done after a careful consideration to minimize the drawbacks of both internal and external examination systems.
The process of learning and achievement of excellence is a legacy of our religion. The chronicles of history repeatedly bear witness to the fact that Muslim scholars pioneered and made gigantic leaps in various branches of modern science. We, therefore, are custodians to a trust vested into us by the dictums of Allah Almighty. The turn of events and transgression from destined path have tilted the scales in favour of the West. We, thus, find ourselves in a subservient position. At this point of time, vision with unflinching faith is the guiding principle to turn the wheels and arrest further degradation of our potentials. A big task lies ahead to revive and restore the ascendancy of Muslim scholars to its rightful place in today’s modern world. Let us join hands and carry this noble mission to a conclusive end under the banner of Mohi-ud-Din Islamic University, Nerian Sharif. I have faith in you and with the blessings of Allah almighty we will reach the zenith of fulfillment and achievement.

The Mohi-ud-Din Islamic University Nerian Sharif AJ&K was established with the sole aim to provide quality education to its students. The main focus of its attention is to produce highly talented youth at minimum expenses involved in their training as highly skilled professionals in modern education and technology. I would like to persuade the students to play a meaningful role in the development of the University as a seat of higher learning by monitoring the teaching/learning process and reporting on the prowess and potentials of teachers to help the University take suitable steps for ensuring the standards by replacing the weaker elements in its academic areas so that its graduates are in a position to compete effectively with the graduates of those universities, which charge lacs of rupees as tuition fee. The other aspect on which I would like to address the students is to make best use of the facilities provided by the University for their in-depth learning and training which would definitely give them an edge in competitive world, so that they may take pride in carrying the name of this University both as an accomplished scholars in their selected field of specialization and as builders of Pakistan as a great nation.
