Using a mix of regional language dialogues, local music and traditional hand-drawn animation, Kandittund! is a tribute to the quirks and charisma of regional stories and the storytellers like Mr. Panicker who make them immortal.

Thanks everyone for the love, likes and views!! We are absolutely overwhelmed by this warm response! We crossed 1 Million views because of that! Animation film making takes time and this film took 18 months to make. We are working on more such films, but it takes a lot of time and effort!! Hope to share some of them with you soon here.. പണ്ട് ഉറങ്ങാൻ നേരം അച്ഛമ്മ പറഞ്ഞു തന്നിരുന്ന കഥകൾ ആയിരുന്നു ഇതെല്ലം. സത്യം ഇത് കേൾക്കുമ്പോ അവരെ ഒക്കെ വല്ലാതെ മിസ് ചെയ്യുന്നു. എത്ര നിഷ്കളങ്കമായ കഥകൾ. ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ കുട്ടികൾക്ക് എല്ലാം മിസ് ചെയ്യുന്നത് ഇത് പോലെ ഉള്ള അമ്മുമ്മ അപ്പുപ്പന്മാർ ആണ്. നാഷണൽ അവാർഡ് കിട്ടിയില്ലെങ്കിലെ അത്ഭുതം ഉള്ളൂ. മനോഹരം. ഒരു വർഷത്തിന് ശേഷം വീണ്ടും ഓര്മ പുതുക്കാൻ എത്തി.

Though I don't understand that language I get the tone and expressions. I'm proud to be a part of this Diverse Country that has so many cultures and traditions. The orator grandpa is a typical Indian grandpa whose storytelling style makes it more beautiful to listen to. Though my mother tongue is Assamese and grandpa is speaking in Malayalam, it feels like I'm listening in my own language. Hope to see more videos with his voice.😇♾️✨

ഞങ്ങടെ നാട്ടിലൊക്കെ "അറവല" എന്നാ പറയാറ് വെട്ടുകൊണ്ട് മരിച്ചവർ, തല്ലുകൊണ്ട് മരിച്ചവർ,കൊലചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടവരൊക്കെ "അറവല" ആകും എന്നാ പറയാറ്,രാത്രി 12 മണിക്ക് ശേഷം വലിയരീതിയിൽ നിലവിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് "അറവല" ഓടാറുണ്ട്.. ജീവിച്ചു കൊതിതീർന്നു മരിക്കാത്തതുകൊണ്ട് ഇവർ ചിലപ്പോഴൊക്കെ വളരെ സങ്കടത്തോടെ കരയാറുണ്ട്.. 😵‍💫😵‍💫 ഞങ്ങടെയൊക്കെ കുട്ടിക്കാലത്തു കേട്ട് പഴകിയ കഥ.

ഇന്ന് ആദ്യം ആയി ഇതു കണ്ടു... ഈ കഥകൾ കേട്ടിട്ടില്ലെങ്കിലും 60/70 കളിലും ഒക്കെ ജീവിച്ചവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ ഞാനും ഉണ്ടെന്ന സന്തോഷം.. ഓരോ നാട്ടിലും ഓരോരോ പഴങ്കഥ കൾ.... ഇതുപോലുള്ള ഗന്ധർവ/ യക്ഷി /ഭൂത /പ്രേത പിശാച് ക്കളുടെ ഒക്കെ കഥകൾ സമൃദ്ധം ആയിരുന്നു 👍😍🙏🙏

ഞാൻ ഇത്രയും പ്രതീക്ഷയോടെ കാത്തിരുന്ന മറ്റൊരു അനിമേഷൻ മൂവി ഇല്ലെന്നു തന്നെ പറയാം. പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ചതിനെക്കാൾ പതിന്മടങ്ങ് ഗംഭീരം! 80 തുകളിൽ ജനിച്ച എന്റെ തലമുറയ്ക്ക് ഒക്കെ ഭാവനയിൽ മാത്രം കാണാൻ കഴിയുന്ന, വൈദ്യുതി വ്യാപകമാകുന്നതിന് മുൻപുള്ള കേരളത്തിന്റെ പഴയകാല ഭൂപ്രകൃതിയും, മിത്തുകളും ഒക്കെ ഇതിലും മനോഹരമായി ആർക്കെങ്കിലും ചിത്രീകരിക്കാൻ കഴിയും എന്ന് തോന്നുന്നില്ല. ശരിക്കും ആ കാലഘട്ടത്തിലേക്ക് പോയി തിരിച്ചു വന്ന പ്രതീതി!.I still dont know how to appreciate the talent of the people behind this classic work of art. Especially those who did the animation and the script. Its truely a gem of a movie❤️❤️

That's a huge challenge though. Making an animated feature film needs a lot bigger team, well established styles, big budget, and a lot of other people like voice actors and all from film industry ig. But if we get multiple studios like this produce amazing animated works over next couple of years, we can expect a great animation studio and a proper feature length film (hopefully more than a kids film) from Kerala. Aah... I will be over the moon if something like that happens

I just came across your video through insta, and it's so nice to listen to all these stories, like how all grandparents say stories to the young ones and it's an inexplicable emotion that your animations give. Thanks for starting this and sharing it with the world, giving us another chance to listen to these beautiful stories from an older person.

I am from Kanjany, Thrissur where we have heard these kind of Ghost stories.It was one of best memories to discuss with this cousins in hot summer vacation nights.We even have an reknown family near by village who have kuttichathan as ancestral diety in Peringottukara. This gave me chills in the first time but later the way he told took me back to old memories. It is really worth the effort and dedication.Thank you very much.Keeep on bringing up these kind of things.

3:00ക്ക് രാത്രി ഞാൻ കൂട്ടുകാരന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ നിന്ന് വരുകയായിരുന്നു ഏകദേശം 1km 1/30km ഉണ്ടാവും എന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്ക് ആരും വിളിച്ചിട്ട് എഴുന്നേൽക്കുന്നില്ല എല്ലാം അടിച്ചു ഓഫ്‌ ആയി കിടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു അങ്ങനെ ഞാൻ നടന്നു ചെറിയ റോഡ് വഴി ആണ് പോകുന്നത് കുറച്ചു ദൂരം എത്തിയപ്പോൾ മുറുക്കാൻ തുപ്പിയതിന്റെ സ്മെൽ ആ പരിസരം മുഴുവൻ വന്നു പിന്നെ ഭയങ്കര ഒച്ചയിൽ അലറി ഇത് കേട്ടപ്പോഴേത്തിനും ഞാൻ പുറകിലേക്ക് നോക്കി ഓടിക്കൊണ്ടേയിരുന്നു😢അനുഭവം 😢

Its like the Anime movie Spirited Away but from Kerala. I really loved the Aesthetics Adithi chose for this. The character designs are so cute. The Narration too 😍👌. Adithi is sooo talented. I always wanted to write a small fun script like this, based on Keralite nattin puram ghost stories and monsters. But never had the confidents for it because didn't know how our people will take it. But now after watching this i am soo inspired, i am gonna do it anyway. Lots of love to the team. And wishing good luck for your future endeavors.

This is one of the best video art I've seen in Malayalam. Narration is sincere and the animation did justice to the narrative. Music and sound mixing were equally good. This is the kind of video that should go viral. Hope it does.

Unique style of animation, Brilliant storytelling, mindblowing composition, and illustration. Love each and every detail in this film. This production is something of international standard that can be compared with 2D animated films like the song of the sea or wolf walker. Perfect. I was like, been there and heard that. This took me back to my old memmories of an 80s kid from ezhupunna, cherthala. Still I cherish the stories my grandma use to say, she use to spook actually. Now being a self proclaimed atheist, I would call these as aquired stories which we should transfer to next generation. We also had at our familly "kavu" with the gods named "Arukula maman", "Brahmarakshas", "Yakshi amma"...where we lit diyas... Btw my grandma also use to say that, a great grandfather of her who is a friendly ghost then was always present at our gate as an old guard to safe guard family and she was very confident that he will make sure that no robbers will trespass. Thank you for documenting it
