This is most certainly one of the best if not the best museums in Oklahoma. After retiring from a long career in the Air Force my grandfather worked here for a short time then later volunteered here. There really is no better place to learn about cowboy history.

At the cooks display the two pots on the ground where dutch ovens they put hot coals under and on top to cook bread and stews. Keep up the great videos.

I took my girls to Gatlinburg pigeon forge for 9 days 2 weeks ago and they wanted to see everything you went too on your Videos. We had the best time. We skipped the haunted mansion because they were scared. But thank you for your work.

You cleverly avoided the great where is Oklahoma debate. Is it the Midwest, is it the south, is it the west. No one knows. This museum is my kids favorite. We've been members there for years. I love the kind volunteers at the museum and the amazing displays.

I was astonished Jake didn't know it because he's so much into pop culture, but the reason I know it is that I love old movies and my dad watched them all the time. But there was no judgment in the comment. He was just telling Jake... it was a whole phase of Stewart's career and there's some pretty great movies in there. Waaait a minute... I remember you... Well, again, it was just a piece of information. I recommend the movie mentioned in the video to fill the gargantuan amounts of free time you have.

Lived in Oklahoma my whole life, but only been to this place once and that was years ago. So I appreciate this upload. I was gonna go in April because they were gonna honor Kurt Russell and Robert Duvall, but sadly it didn't happen.

Those "mighty delicious" things were dutch ovens. You sit them on hot coals from the fire and then put hot coals on the top and you can bake bread, etc. just like if you had a traditional oven. The cast iron diffused the heat on top and bottom like in an oven. It's a great way to cook when camping along with over a fire (direct heat) or using a metal grill over a fire.

Don't forget that you can also bury them with the hot coals to cook things. I want one but they can be pretty expensive, especially if you rarely use them.

Love this museum. I used to watch a lot of western shows and movies growing up. Oklahoma is a great place to have a cowboy museum. Every part of this place is amazing. Thank you for bringing us along. God bless you

Yes, Jimmy Stewart was in a LOT of westerns. Also, too bad you couldn't show the art gallery, but I know they have a no video/photos policy in that wing. Those paintings are stunning. Some day check out Woolaroc at Bartlesville. It was Frank Phillips's ranch (Phillips 66). More western stuff, more paintings, more firearms, and his very, very rustic ranch house. And it's a nature park, you can drive among a buffalo herd. Oh, lol, there's one buffalo that talks, too!

Hi! I'm so glad you visited us in Oklahoma. If you decide to drive South, visit Turner Falls near Davis and the Chickasaw National Recreation Area near Sulphur. There is also a Gene Autry museum in Gene Autry, OK. Anyway, always enjoy your vlogs. You, Adam, Jordan, et.al., keep me sane.

I do hope you are able to go the Kansas and visit S. P. Dinsmoor's Garden of Eden.....it is one of the craziest cool places I've ever seen. It's in Lucas, KS and worth the drive.

Trigger and Bullet are both on display at the RFD TV offices. That's "Doc" Milburn Stone's chair from the set of "Gunsmoke". Each star had their own chair to sit in during takes. I don't believe he was ever a director.

Hi, this was a pleasant surprise. The collection here is extensive and well presented. It seems a bit like everything is in Boot Hill, pure museum so to speak. The rain is a shame for you can not go outdoors. However, I'm curious if what they have outside is like the other Wild West-Frontier Towns I have seen and grown up in. One I love has a live interactive town which is still my favorite to this day,.Look up Liberty Valence, I've seen most Cow Boy films. It's unique.

The outside will surprise you. It has some art, gardens, water stream type structure you can walk on the bricks over, statues and a few memorials of famous rodeo stock.

Yeah... I'm in California and for a minute I was thinking, "What... what's that sound...?" I grew up in Louisiana and I still love rain, though maybe somewhere between Louisiana rain and California rain in amount would be ideal.

You need to go to Bartlesville and go spend the day at Woolaroc. It was a ranch owned by Frank Phillips founder of Phillips Petrolatum. It has multiple museums, live buffalo roaming, lots of animals to see and pet. It has one of the largest Native American Museum. Lots to see and do. Its an awesome place. And not all that far from OKC. www.woolaroc.org

Hawaiian cowboys actually predate western cowboys. King Kamehameha had been given some long horned cattle as a gift from British sea captain George Vancouver. They didn't fare too well with the long journey to the islands, so the king forbade anyone from owning them. He let the herd roam freely, and within a few decades, they produced large herds that caused a lot of destruction. Somewhere along the way (stories vary), vaqueros came to the islands. They helped make Parker Ranch the largest privately-owned ranch in North America in the mid-1800s. The vaqueros taught the Hawsiian cowboys (paniolos), and many of their traditions still survive on the islands.

❤❤❤❤1830. The vaqueros from Mexico California. They taught the Hawaiians how to ranch (Paniolo). 50 years before teaching Texans. Texans and confederacy then tried to expand slavery to mexico. Remember the Alamo.
