You can do both best things for your children, pray for them and show them Christ's gospel. Showing them how to come to salvation. You should know you can only come to heaven through Christ's sacrifice not of your deeds. You can see this in verses such as Ephesians 2 8-9 for you are saved by grace through faith, not of works lest any man should boast. Therefore you either have a contradiction or you misunderstood the meaning and obvisouly you misunderstood the meaning because James is clearly explaining that you should do good works in the name of your faith or your faith is pointless and doesn't lead to anything profitable for The Kingdom of Christ Jesus. Also verses like Romans 4:5 - But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Matthew 5:5 blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth notice all those Beatitudes on The Mount were about those that belong to The Kingdom and are already saved by their faith prepared for good deeds. Ephesians 2 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do Romans 2 This refers to those that are both saved and unsaved both get what they deserve based on their deeds the worse you were the worse the punishment However to those that are saved also get their rewards based on works Matthew 12 it is basically the same concept you pay for your deeds Also for Galatians Now there are many verses that only support that you are saved by faith please believe them forget your righteousness and turn to Him Luke 7:50 - And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace Ephesians 2:5 - Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved; Romans 4:16 - Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all.
