People don't realize, there are a lot of light skin, mulatto, and trigueño Dominicans. There's a misconception that all Dominicans are black. Many people think all Puerto Ricans are light skin, mulatto, and white. I always advise them to take a trip to Puerto Rico and you will see black or Afro Puerto Ricans in Carolina, Santurce, Loiza. With all this being said, I am a Nuyorican living in Washington, D.C. born to both parents born in Puerto Rico migrating to the mainland in 1952. As a black man and when I speak Spanish, Salvadorians/Central Americans in D.C. assume, I am Dominican, Panamanian, and sometimes Cuban. 😀 😃 😄 😁 😆 😅 😂 🤣 I love a all 3 Caribbean cultures of Puerto Rico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic. I wished we had a Dominican and a Puerto Rican Day Parade in Washington, D.C. oppose to a Latino Festival.

Apparently Spain enslaving the island was good but when Haitian came over it and did what they did 800 plus years later Dominicans who probably have hertiage in Haiti gets to mistreat them , use them as a image of being ugly, etc .. but its okay for them to use Spanish and make this alliance with South Americans and Mexicans when they have no history with them i comment this on several videos of a Dominican girl claiming to be this big Dominican girl married to a pale Mexican acting like she Mexican most Dominicans in the US lose the culture and they identity

@@nooneknows9234 You don't know anything about history. The first thing is, we are neighbors. Haiti occupies a large part of the Dominican Republic. He spent 22 years enslaving the country. Dominicans couldn't even speak Spanish because they were killed and pregnant women were also killed, harassment, Haitians are holy. So much evil that they have done to the Dominicans and you, without knowing the story, why did we go through Haiti, find out first, now you Americans talk about us but America owes you a lot Haiti steals the gold it has and nobody says anything and France has a huge debt With Haiti and I never pay them just because it is a country of the black race they abuse them but the Haitians suffer from their country that the majority of Haiti is controlled by the armed gangs that they have, more than 200 people die daily and nobody says anything From their country they suffer and they want to say that we have to pay for their suffering, not us, and let me tell you one last thing, the second most important client in the Dominican Republic is Ha Iti Oki and another thing, 95% of Haiti are black and 5% are white. Before talking about us, look at Chile that if they discriminate against them because of their skin color, the United States of America would give them free healthcare for Haitians and I don't know. On the other hand, we do find out, we have never been occupied by Haiti, but Haiti, yes, tell me which country they are neighbors with and has no history problem like Mexico and the United States, including others such as South Korea and North Korea, and if we Dominicans are so racist with them how is it that almost 3 million Haitians live in our country for God's sake I understand that I should see few not many like we have

La gente no se da cuenta, hay muchos dominicanos de piel clara, mulatos y trigueños. Existe la idea errónea de que todos los dominicanos son negros. Mucha gente piensa que todos los puertorriqueños son de piel clara, mulatos y blancos. Siempre les aconsejo que hagan un viaje a Puerto Rico y van a ver negros o afro puertorriqueños en Carolina, Santurce, Loiza. Was in the Heights uptown, took the famous *A" from Jersey city about a month ago en route to my historic homeland in Africa. No Parade but just love having lunch there and sitting outside relaxing! Two Mormon women almost ruined it for me but shooed them away and do not pester me!

Sorry but I disagree, the 2 best parades in the city are the Labor Day parade and the Puerto Rican day parade which is a NY tradition since the 1950s.
