National Lampoon's Vacation: 30th Anniversary is available on Blu-ray 5/21! bit.ly/Y02oZy
Everything is planned, packed -- and about to go hilariously wrong. The Griswolds are going on vacation. In the driver's seat is Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase), an Everyman eager to share the open road and the wonders of family togetherness. Myriad mishaps, crude kin (Randy Quaid), encounters with a temptress (Christie Brinkley), financial woes, Aunt Edna (Imogene Coca) on the roof, one security guard (John Candy) and 2,460 miles later, it's a wonder the Griswolds are together. There's never been a family vacation like it. Except maybe yours. And that helps explain why National Lampoon's Vacation remains so popular...and so very funny.

@r-urelentlessandunstoppable 11 күн бұрын
@@warrennelsom4859yeah but there can be two sides to each story. In his perspective, he was just doing his job. If a card is attempted and reported lost, it’s reasonable for the clerk to be suspicious that there could be a thief they’re facing. That’s why the clerk advised him to either work it out with his bank, or, stay at the hotel until his bank can reinstate the usage of Clark’s card and/or permit his check. I mean, the clerk may not have used the proper attitude, but he was in the right in this situation and I don’t feel that his options for Clark were unreasonable. And by Clark taking the hotel money and leaving the check, that would further lead the clerk to believe that he was dealing with a thief who might have stolen the card, and he would easily be able to track down the money by not just the check and Clark’s info, but by the fact that the last time the register was closed before being broken into was when he spoke to a tourist who wanted money from the hotel…what Clark did was stealing.

@@MikeJ2023 well, I did air fingers quote that Clark 'stole' the money. Plus, how was the employee supposed to know the check was legit? If he had agreed to Clark's offer and the check bounced two weeks later, that would be the end of his job. What likely happened was that he found the check and the money missing, and just covered the whole thing up until the check cleared, thus keeping $700+ to himself for nothing more than acting like a total creep.

@@MikeJ2023 Glad someone was paying attention... it's what he reached for a second time into the drawer-- to leave the check... mind you one he wrote for $1,000. Now provided that check clears in 5-10 business days, there would hardly be a crime committed other than the foul of not having remained in person until it does; I wonder what the policy was back in 1983 for clearing a check other than what the hotel clerk requested.

+godzillavkk Yes,I do. I enjoy it because it's funny that they get themselves into those situations by accident and you can learn from them unlike modern comedies with the exception of the original film where Clark gets himself into situations like that on purpose and the original has the same kind of raunchy stupid humor as the new one with vulgar,mean and adult jokes and references like the last part; the ending. The new vacation reminds me of the original dumb and dumber movie where the characters Harry and Lloyd accidentally get themselves into by accidents but they can function in polite society and in public unlike dumb and dumber to where they were excessively dumb,stupid and bizarrely mean spirited. P.S.:I despise dumb and dumber to but I love the original and only the original. I like the new Vacation for a certain reason and I also enjoy the originals too including Christmas vacation. I love the first four movies of the original saga(the theatrical ones).

This is what the 2015 reboot got wrong. Rusty’s family easily got out of any situation they were scott-free. See? This is why the original Vacation was funny and why the new Vacation wasn't. @CWS and TKP 66-02 He no doubt called the police as soon as Clark left and he discovered what he did. Clark may've left a $1,000 check but no doubt that clerk didn't believe it would clear, and would have to wait 10 days even if it did while being short the several hundred dollars Clark took. 10 days, checks took longer to clear back then.
